And what makes you think that Les will find someone that will be a spread guy?
I don't. But, haven't heard Loeffler tied to him like I have to Hoke. So, perhaps wishful thinking.

Since his automatic raise after winning the BCSCG in January 2008, Miles has averaged 9.33 wins per season at LSU, despite kicking his starting QB off the team in 2008, losing his all-star DC to Nebraska in 2008, and completely overhauling the defensive coaching staff in 2009.

if we were replacing Les....would Hoke be in your top 5?
Based on his history and after watching the bowl game, absolutely.
I've been an advocate for a few months now.

Hoke also said the spread is basketball on grass. Aka we would be blowing up the team and starting from scratch again if he's hired. Aside from the fact that you don't usually jump from an SDSU to Michigan, that alone has most fans saying DO.NOT.WANT!

in this day and age, when bowl teams play 13+ games, winning % is a better gauge than number of wins...

Latest bulletin from my fevered imagination:
Miles to Michigan, with Hoke as his assistant/coach-in-waiting.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks Michigan can win in the short term with the right hire. They're incredibly young and have speed at every position. Again, with the right guy (and Denard staying obviously) I think they could continue an upward trajectory.

After LSU, I root hardest for Michigan, and I think you have to look beyond what fits the current roster (which is nothing to write home about regardless of scheme) and get the coaching staff that will bring Michigan back to Big 10+ relevance within about 3-4 years. The short term is going to be rough regardless.
The better Michigan does next year, the easier the transition will go. Revamping the entire system like Rodriguez did makes everything exponentially harder. Not to mention brings into question attrition by all 3 scholarship QBs.
We are still talking about a 7 win team that returns 20 of 22 starters.

Ohio St. took a chance on someone from Youngstown St.
It sure worked well.

Exception, meet rule. Rule, exception.

Outside of maybe 1 or 2 guys in the nation, I'm not sure anyone will succeed at Michigan right now.
And it has little to do with personnel etc. It's more about this powerplay at Michigan and all the factions going at one another and wanting different things. Very hard for a program to excel when all arms aren't pulling in the same direction.

not mine dude....not mine
I also find his flat out begging for this job is a tad disrespectful to his current employers. Yea I get its a big time upgrade, but come on....

I haven't seen any of that.
One thing we can agree on is that the choices out there are slim and with a recruiting class like LSU is pulling in right now, this is probably the worst time Michigan would be coming looking for a coach.
...and mark me down for not wanting Pelini. He just doesn't seem like the coach kids beat down the door to play for....rep for not being the best recruiter..... meh.
ETA: Not saying any of the begging didn't happen. I just literally have not seen any of it.

Absolutely! His temperament is ideal for a DC. Not so much for a HC at a top tier program.

Totally agree with this. I think Pelini is a good coach, but he's certainly not my top choice to replace Miles.

Also, no one has mentioned it yet, but does anyone else find it strange that Brandon has been in Arizona the last two days in the midst of his biggest chore since taking over as Michigan's AD.
In case you didn't watch ESPN yesterday, there is very high profile national title-winning coach also in Arizona right now. One that tends to hop around every 4-5 years.

But Notre Dame was Meyer's dream job.

I would agree because of the the turnaround he made at a BCS school. However, I don't care for the way he handles himself.
