disturbingly, there is a large portion of our community on here that is willing to burn him without a shred of proof.
and it is bizarre that people will argue for something when evidence is presented which makes their original idea incorrect.
facts and opinions are now blurred. has it always been this way?

Think how bad this would suck to be Schiano IF he actually didn't see a thing at Penn St and is innocent of all this? His day went from fricking great to fricking horrible in a matter of hours. He went from being paid millions of $$'s to be head coach of Tenn to pretty much being unemployable for the foreseeable future all in a matter of hours for something he didn't do. That's a bad fricking day.

rts Knoxville @FOXSportsKnox You know those moments in time, those memorable days that you'll never forget? This might be one of those days. Reports: Schiano to Tennessee is no more.

Dan Wetzel Dan Wetzel @DanWetzel An old, random, nonspecific, (disputed) hearsay allegation took down Greg Schiano/Tennessee. Proof? Evidence? Corroboration? There is none.
This has been an issue on almost ALL of the recent allegations and it’s really, really evil. The same thing happened to Kevin spacey. The allegations came out and he was dropped from House of Cards within 12 hours. Yes, I think after everything we can assume that he did it or some version of it - same with all the others - but why are we lynching people before there is proof? There is a HUGE contingent of (mostly liberal) people out there who honestly believe that “rape victims” should be believed without the burden of proof and we’re allowing it to happen in crazy high amounts right now.
If you don’t want Schiano because you think he’s a bad coach, fine. But to accuse him of this crap, and subsequently ruin his entire career, just based on a 20+ year old account that has absolutely no credibility one way or another is fricking ludacris.

It's surprising that Schiano was the guy UT's AD zeroed in on. That said, this whole situation is ridiculous. This is the Gene Chizik hire on steroids and the widespread influence of social media. From now on every fanbase including do-nothing state legislators will feel empowered to have a voice in personnel decisions they don't like.
UT supporters are DEMANDING a big name coach...but what big name coach is going to want to enter that dumpster fire right now?

Houston Kress Houston Kress @VolRumorMill I refuse to believe that Tennessee would consider hiring Greg Schiano. We’ve had months to be looking and talking and we might settle for a coordinator with a losing record as a head coach who MAY have covered up child rape? Might as well just bulldoze Neyland.

College football (And our society) is beyond repair IMO.
Give me a break. Society may be in the shitter but it’s not because a school had to back out of hiring a guy that was about 3 feet from a serial child rapist fiasco. There are other way more damaging issues at hand in this country. We have a childish orange painted buffoon running this country who is a narcissistic compulsive liar that attacks people daily and is trying to delegitimize free press. Schiano not getting the tenn job is not even a blip. He isn’t being imprisoned. He’s also a millionaire.

Now the elected officials care!
Seriously wonder which one will be clueless enough to use blocking the Schiano hire in a campaign ad.

Kirk Herbstreit @KirkHerbstreit Nobody knows the Sandusky case as well as Dan. And here’s his take. Which matches the vetting process at Ohio State AND Tennessee! Dan Wetzel @DanWetzel Replying to @RoFlo and @McClain_on_NFL Not going to re-litigate the lengthy, complex Sandusky scandal but headline is very misleading. A document included non-specific allegation based on hearsay that attorney general (who investigated everything) didn't take serious enough to

Ohhh so because he wasn't "convicted" of anything it's all ok?
Well hell. Why not hire OJ Simpson then?

The Penn St stuff is an excuse to run him off. If it was a superstar coach they would be rationalizing the other way.

Exactly right. This is what I find troubling about all of this, as much fun as we are having watching it.
What if McQuery is lying? What if his memory is incorrect? What if Bradley is lying? What if Bradley’s memory is incorrect? What if Schiano told someone else and they covered it up? What if Schiano just relayed a rumor about Sandusky that he had heard and during the story transfer from possible third coach to Bradley to McQuery the story transformed from something Schiano heard to something he saw?
The fact is there is nothing substantial that could even be admitted as evidence in a legal proceeding that Schiano did anything wrong. Not saying he did not, only saying that there is nothing substantive that he did.
