Best coach available and this is not even close. Anybody who says otherwise knows zero about football. Now that being said We don't need another saban situation where we lose a great up and coming coAch to NFL. So that being said he's the best coach out there but can cause a much bigger problem in the few years when he heads to NFL.

IF the NFL comes calling, it would be after a NC and most likely 5 years.
I would take that in a heartbeat.

Certainly willing to risk the jump to NFL in exchange for a couple of Nattys.

college coaches just don't move to the NFL like they used to
NFL seems to be on a trend for hiring within the NFL nowadays
Kelly and Harbaugh are the only college coaches that made the jump recently

Saban brought us a national championship before going, was that such a big problem?

People keep saying NFL and I don't see it.
Never played in the NFL. Never Coached in the NFL. Runs a spread system which likely wouldn't work in the NFL.
Best case scenario he is the next Urban Meyer and Meyer never even looked at the NFL.

That is a winner's attitude. Not saying whether Herman is the guy or not, but not every great college coach wants to go to the NFL. Get the best here and let the chips fall here they may, down the road.

Well then he came back and it became a huge problem

He is the best coach available and if the fear of leaving for NFL didn't bother alleva then the contract should have been all but signed at this point. Will be highly upset if he let those couple of Houston losses phase him. Houston showed lasts nght they gave up on Herman after not getting into big 12. Last night confirmed he is the best coach available. Look at him against two of the three coaches we want. He blew both of them out with less talent. He rushed all over sabans defense. The only time a team ever did. I just don't understand how this guy is not our number one if there is no worry about the NFL.

Herman booth excites and scares me; Either he's
A- He's a great young coach who will bring LSU to the promise land
OR
B- He's Curley Hallman redux: A flash in the pan who had a couple of great years at a small school but is out of his league against the big boys

And when he loses at Memphis next week?

Dude, I respect everyone's right to their own opinion, but the Hallman/Herman comparison is way off. Hallman was a Bear boy that caught lightning in a bottle with Favre. LSU went cheap and hired him and got exactly what they paid for. Check Herman's resume. He has earned his way bit by bit to where he is today. I just don't see any way in which the two should be compared sensibly.

This would be the equivalent of saying you shouldn't recruit a top 5 NBA pick because he'll be gone in a year.
In short: it's dumb to worry about.

If we could have another Saban-like situation, including the NC, I would sign up for that.
Out of his league? Saban called this guy to ask him how he kicked his arse. SABAN. That should tell you all you need to know about this guy's capabilities.

People need to look at hermans record va the coaches we want and he had less talent every time. Look at how he ran all over Bama in the national championship. Isn't that exactly what we want?
