I don't know how realistic it is but I personally would like to see O take a chance on someone like Joe Bleymaier. Doubt O would go this far out on a limb though if his job depends on it.

Bleymaier would be a nice option I’d think.

Also Harrell has no connection to Pete Carroll or Orgeron’s previous tenure at USC.

He does lean on former USC guys a lot, which is normal as coaches generally hire people they’ve got a connection to, but this is not that.

Bleymaier was who I wanted them to hire last year.

Kingsbury got fired from Texas tech & got hired as an nfl HC and now has a top 10 offense

That’s why fans suck at judging coaching hires. They judge on shine & not actually things that matter (that we aren’t always privy too, honestly)

Which makes the Rant causing Canada to be hired even funnier because of how big of a dumpster fire it became behind the scenes.

I’m not 100% sold on Calloway, but Chip Kelly was nearly the same (outside of being a HC at that level) and regarded equally when he came in and bailed out Oregon and nearly got Dixon the Heisman in 2007.

Just because they were coaching at a lower division doesn’t mean they aren’t as good. It often means they weren’t gifted the connections some other guys at FBS were for their start.

Does that guarantee he will be a success? No, but he ha been in the LSU system for a year already and has proven himself in the passing game.

If you keep Calloway but fire Cregg and get a legit OL coach that can serve as a Running game coordinator, that would be better.

Canada’s scheme, while not my favorite, can work.

2019 LSU talent would’ve killed in that scheme.

Canada’s problem is he’s an a-hole and everyone hates him. He’s had 8 jobs in 10 years.

Orgeron failed by not doing due diligence on his personality, not necessarily his scheme.

Kelly was innovative

Callaway is derrivative

Totally different situation

The biggest thing we need to look for in coaching is guys who can create a culture where players don’t want to leave. That’s what Clemson and Bama have done. Acquire talent and keep talent. That’s what creates a long term standard of winning.

Just ante Up.

Everyone should watch this. It is a recipe for disaster in the SEC. Also, this makes me want Urban even more as our next HC.

Andrew Sowder at Kent State. #1 offense in the country this year. Averaging over 600 yards and 50 points per game. 324 yards passing/283 yards rushing per game.

Texas native which could help with recruiting.

That just isn't realistic. Too complicated for college. The only reason it worked in 2019 was b/c Burrow may literally be the GOAT

This is another of those statements that gets thrown around that is patently false. Max can run that offense. Brennan HAS run this, even with the still inexplicable insertion of Linehan mucking up our third down calls. When we moved on from Les Miles, we desperately needed to change the offense to take advantage of our talent. That is not the case now, our offensive scheme has proven to be exceptional and, frankly, it needs to continue on as LSU's scheme, not Brady's.

Last year when they brought in Pelini at DC, it wasn't just that it was a questionable hire from a coaching perspective, it was that they gave him a ridiculous contract when we weren't exactly trying to outbid anyone and there were other options that were at least as good that would have come in a lot cheaper. Going after Harrell feels a lot like that. The fit does not make a ton of sense and even if you consider him to be on par with some other options like Calloway/Munoz or Rob Sale, why pay what it will likely take to bring him here when you know that what he runs is not what you are looking for?

Brady didn’t run Saints offense

It was more joe morehead’s with some route concepts from New Orleans. LSU could have hired Morehead last year

Everyone wants what the Saints have: Spread them out, throw it around the field at will, but also utilize the running game when you need to. Pro-style offense. All Air-Raid ain’t gonna work, all read option ain’t gonna work. They both have their uses and are good to win a few games, but not championships. You need to both run & pass.

I've gathered the list

No older than 35

Successful in a P5 conference

50/50 run pass split

Is Joe Brady

Didn't coach at USC

Spread offense but not too spready

Need to look into him more but on paper looks like a good candidate. The jump of 11 points and 100 yards plus per game in his first year is what really stands out.

Sfp I am fine with GH. I would like to see him be more like UNT Harrell where he averaged over 150 yards a game rushing his last two years and was really balanced overall in number pass vs run plays.

I also think Calloway would be fine as OC or PGC. And yes half this board is fricking stupid. They scream about not using air raid, yet that's essentially what we ran last year and this year with zone running game with rpo off that.

Have to understand though most on this board didn't pkay in high school. Nor do they understand any types of coverage or concepts other than stuff on madden.

Also love the veer and shoot.
