There needs to be a committee that helps O fill these spots.

There are just too many coaching changes and it is too important to just have O and Woodward spitballing then shooting from the hip on all these hires. The same people or similar methodology that resulted in the hiring of Will Wade is what I have in mind. If O is given complete autonomy on this situation we will more than likely end up with a huge mess with millions in buyouts.

I know a few thousand people who have all the answers. Where do I send them?

They do have a committee using this place. They look at this board then make the opposite hires.

You mean like committees bought off by boosters so we can be like Texas, Tennessee, and USC? Sounds awesome!

Saban to LSU was the product of a search committee. The OP is right. By what objective metric does anyone trust O to make the right hires?

Tuberville did this same act at Auburn for years. Fired the majority of his coaching staff after every shitty season. They eventually learned to cut the problem off at the head.

Coach O should work with Woodward and select a Committee of 10 of you coach selection geniuses here on the Rant to express your well reasoned and educated views regarding the new hires. Maybe let Ryan Clark chair that committee. Since so many of you want young, innovative coaches, perhaps start with the 2021 Senior class at the various area high schools for candidates.

Disagree. That the problem at Auburn. They can’t keep their hands off the program. If your head coach can’t make decent hires then you fire him. If Ed fails miserably next year you cut bait, why would you try to hide his deficiencies as a the head coach. He would still be the same terrible head coach.

Coach O has his job because he can recruit and motivate. Long and short term strategic decisions are not his strong suit. You don't necessarily fire someone because they are not great at everything, often times if you can recognize weaknesses you can correct that by supplementing a complimentary measure. Saban is elite at every aspect of coaching except gameday coaching where he is average. We don't have him so the best we can really do is "Coach" by committee.

Hell no! Committee approach does not work, and you would get a compromise candidate. This is 100% on the HC.

Add Michigan to that list.

Man if you do this you’re cutting the head coach’s nuts off. O should be able to pick his guys and the AD should be able to figure out compensation. The AD should have some input and sit in on interviews but if the head coach doesn’t have a say in his staff you may as well fire everyone across the board and start from scratch with yes men to the AD.

If you aren’t willing to let the head coach shape the program/hire the guys he wants then he shouldn’t be your head coach.

I’m talking about an outside professional group that finds, interviews and asses candidates. Idc who makes the final decision, O can do that.
