our fanbase's obsession with recruiting is a large reason why they never could let to of Miles before it was too late

"we have to keep this class together" was program poison

exactly

there will always be more elite recruits to sign. one class isn't a big deal, especially if you have major coaching/scheme deficiencies

for all the mind-blowing, once in a lifetime talent Les recruited and all the top-rated classes as a whole, his guys never won a natty

Saban rarely has had guys play on the level of OBJ, Juice, Honey Badger, Fournette, etc and he's won a bunch of natties

Stahp

Two heisman winners, Julio Jones, Mosley, Amari Cooper, Trent Richardson, Jonathan Allen, Minkah, Kirkpatrick

Yeh. He’s won just by scheming people up

Amari Cooper was a legit superstar type.

their RBs are system guys. he had to run Henry into the ground to win a Heisman that Fournette should have won, and Ingram only rushed for 1,678 yards his Heisman-winning year. they were really good, no doubt, but they weren't all world players at Bama

their QBs?

a lot of their guys could have shown out on other teams but Saban has an overall team philosophy and team concept that limits the individual. it's about the coaching and scheme and not the individual talents

Don’t let one rebuilding season of Coach O make you melt & call LSU’s program a cancer & a disaster when he’s lining up top talent to come play.

You don’t know what’s best for the program. You don’t know shite about coaching hires.

How the hell is O a cancer or disaster? These kids surely don’t know that. The first thing a winning program needs in talent. It starts with that.

Wut?

They literally have comparative guys to all of those players save maybe m7

There are 12 teams in the nfl playoffs. Of the 12 starters, two are Bama alumni, and of course Kamara.

He’s the best but let’s not act like they don’t dominate recruiting every February.

No one doubts O’s recruiting ability Earl. He’s just an awful HC.

Sorry man, I get the point you’re trying to make but you’re completely wrong. Satan recruits like a boss and schemes like a boss. You’re not wrong that he could probably win with inferior talent if he had to, but to say he hasn’t had studs is just retarded.

What about the OL and defensive guys he's had? No talent or stars there.

i agree but that would be like 10 years at Bama to get that one stud QB

literally random coincidence. one is a starter in name only (Ingram, who took forever to turn into an NFL back) and one is a starter due to injury (Henry) whose team slid into the playoffs in the final week. if we start getting into pro stuff, LSU will separate from Bama (Again, showing it's a system thing)

quote:

He’s the best but let’s not act like they don’t dominate recruiting every February.

they aren't UTSA and have lots of talent, but the system limits the individual. they have the most talent top to bottom of anyone and that's a major part of why they keep rolling every year. but i'm talking about their elite individual guys. they're not that common because of the scheme and coaching. Bama is all about the team working as one. yes, having no gaps in your team's talent helps...it helps more than having individual stars. like what they showed with Henry, they can force-feed a guy to get an individual award if they choose to, but that's very rare. Ingram won a Heisman rushing for less than 1700 yards.

the thing that Bama shows is that there is always a new recruiting cycle to get new talent. no one class is a program-changer

LSU fans always think that this next class is too important to lose. hell even this current class, which is mediocre by LSU standards, is getting hailed as an amazing class on the RB. we're getting 3-star linemen and the posters are acting like we're recruiting on UGA's level and that 5-star linemen don't exist (like they're FBs or something)

recruiting is also just a subject that always lets people be irrationally optimistic for, ironically, the very reasons why recruiting should be de-emphasized from a personal care point of view. there's always a new class and new set of kids to focus on, plus the random development of these kids, means that hope literally springs eternal. it's easy to be happy if you care more about recruiting rankings than team performance, b/c you can create mythologies of projected talent, and you get new crops of it every year. there's no end

Bama hasn't had a back as elite as Guice, let alone LF7

and next year in the NFL he'll prove that

Bama RBs have to be treated like QBs in the NFL and brought along over a few years to teach them how to be RBs

I’m only suspect on Dominic Livingston. Yeh, it’s easy to star gaze, but I think they’ve done a good job.

As for the skilled guys — Surtain, Marshall, Chase, Joseph and Goodrich. I don’t think any college will do better than that five.

our RB isn't happy b/c of OL recruits

look at the difference in threads about Marshall and Wire on the RB. the RB isn't happy b/c of a specific OL commit

i'm not saying it's a bad class. i'm just pointing out the perception-biases of the RB and the mythologies and groupthink they engage in to be positive. talk to the recruitniks on there and many act like we have a class on UGA's level and that lineman don't go above 3 stars often

that board is very irrational

it's very to be happy if you live in a bubble of irrationality and mythology-influenced happiness

this board, on the other hand, is much more rational and realizes just how fricked we are and how the Canada situation is a red flag
