i mean i didn't even have to look hard

thread from 2008

quote:

No, you are misunderstanding me. It's got nothing to do with hiring an incompetent DC. It's the recruits. This is in my opinion the most important class by far since Miles has been here. We need to hit a homerun with this class. Miles has the bases loaded. Todd Walker's up to bat walking to the plate..BAM! He's hit by SloFloPro being pushed around in his fat wagon by Glenn Guilbeau & Paul Finebaum. No, but really. This class holds our Future at QB, RB, DT, LBer & Safety. We've recruited heavily out of state recruits & particularly on Defense. Out of State recruits are always a risk, but magnified when people keep running down the Coaches. Then they'll ask: "What happened? I don't understand why ____ didn't sign with us. Miles can't recruit!" You get the idea. Again my opinion, but we will lose most of them if we lose Mallory, Peveto & Earl Lane. You're right, the recruits do Love Miles, they really like the guy. He's honest with them & their Moms love him too. But it's the everday coaches they get nervous/concerned about. This situation with the fans & media BS could not have happened at a worse time. I am really hoping Miles gets with Mallory & Peveto to get this thing worked out quickly.

they weren't even using it for Miles

this was for MALEVETO

it was a recurring theme bro

tommie Robinson was an obvious upgrade over juluke.

Jenkins (despite all of the belly aching) out a solid as frick d line on the field this year. Gilmore will be cashing an NFL paycheck thanks to Pete Jenkins.

I certainly would not turn my nose up if Sarkisian were our OC.

What coaches has he hired with a “prior history” with that you’re so against?

Sarkisian would almost assuredly be a disaster here

Ensminger? disaster

the one guy who would have been a plus, the guy who was central to his pitch to Alleva, didn't even come here

Jenkins wasn't a good choice, either. sure he probably helped a little over replacement value as a coach, but he didn't recruit, leaves after 1 years, and we have to break in a new guy next year. what, exactly, was the point, especially in a rebuilding year? i mean even if Jenkins was amazing, it didn't ultimately help b/c this was a disaster of a year where we likely don't even finish ranked...and he's not here for next year

cute.

I’m saying the Brennan rumor is bullshite so O didn’t put his PR ahead of anything. Conversation beyond that is just hypothetical theorizing of throwing the season and writing it off as a rebuilding year vs not.

yeah that segment of the fan base cares more about our recruiting ranking than our actual team ranking

We’ll end up with 5 consensus top 100 guys. Nothing outstanding, but like I I said earlier, we’ll sign the best set of skilled players in the country.

So we're going with the Top heavy-Ole Miss-Hugh freeze strategy I see. I remember a lot of LSU fans making fun of those classes.

Not just scheme-wise, bringing someone with Sark's history to SE LA is just

regardless of O/Canada's alleged rift, if this was a rebuilding year then Brennan should have started

at least once we lost to Troy. there is literally no excuse after that b/c our season was over

sarkisian hasn’t been hired and neither has Ensminger. Unless you’re saying Ensminger has been a disaster at recruiting and coaching TEs. Which I would disagree with.

Who has O hired that he has a “prior history” with that has been so terrible?

Jenkins was hired to coach the D line. He did a great job. Position coaches leave/change jobs ALL THE TIME. “Breaking in a new D line” coach is one of the easiest things in the world to do. Especially if we get Dunbar.

Crying about Pete Jenkins coaching here for 2 seasons when he did a great job is ridiculous.

In 1 calendar year he’s rebuilt both lines & a depleted LB unit.

We have one lineman, on either side, rated in the top 200

LSU is gonna have a top 10 class in a down year in the state.

Extremely doubtful. Well finish around 12 or 13 which will be one of our lowest rated classes in the last ten years

we beat a top ten auburn team the next week and were still in the SECW division race. We finished 6-2 in the west and you just wanted to shut it down? That’s crazy.

ETA: I can’t imagine any coach still in it to win the division title shutting down the season because MAYBE it will help us out next year. No guarantee mind you just MAYBE we’ll be better in 2018 if we set a flame thrower it the current season.

We played 3 freshmen OL this year on a unit that showed great improvement from game 1

We’ll add shelvin, the top juco DE & a former 5 star transfer from Tech next year, among other

i think the biggest issue is that if your argument is true, then starting Etling was a disaster that's the big thing. either we were rebuilding and we should have taken lumps with Brennan or we were set and roll with Etling

I’m honestly not sold that O was in a position to intentionally “rebuild “ and not expect a hot seat watch going into the next year. He had to max out his roster as much as possible as far as success on the field is concerned. Look at how he always said “Etling gives us the best chance to win.”

he sold the fans and admin that this was specifically NOT a rebuild

he was supposed to take a talented roster that could compete and add slight tweaks that Miles refused to do, then we'd be competing for titles again

magically this turned into a "rebuild" narrative rather quickly

O and the admin would argue it's a rebuild then necessary to save face, and argue we could compete when it was necessary to save face

in no way could O survive a 2008 Bama season (although the Cheerios always bring it up) so he started Etling
