ETA:

quote:

Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers are "in striking distance of getting a deal done"

Per @AaronWilson_NFL, Michigan DC Jesse Minter could be headed to the Chargers as well

They're now free to go hire Harbaugh

quote:

With Leslie Frazier and David Shaw having interviewed in-person the Chargers are now Rooney Rule compliant.

Like... how does this work? Do the Chargers slide him a check to come do the interview? He knows why he's there and he's not getting the job. If there's no compensation involved why waste his time? Free vacation?

Might as well name it the Lovie Smith-Jim Caldwell Rule.

David Shaw completely phoned it in in the last 4-5 years he was at Stanford. Why would anyone be interested in him for any major football coaching job?

They’re not. They’re just checking the box on the diversity interview requirement.

Tbh, that rule does more harm than good. Turns the potential hiring of minority candidates into a bit of a farce.

Marvin Lewis has fallen off a cliff. He can’t even get mentioned these days.

The Cowboys “interviewed” Marvin while Jason Garrett was still officially their coach before beginning their real search and hiring McCarthy.

Complete thread hijack here but did interviewing a mixed baw like Mike McDaniel make teams "Rooney Rule compliant?"

Yeah and some people on social media flipped out when he was hired instead of a black coach. It was a great thread.
