He’s working with the same setbacks that most coaches do when taking over for a fired coach.

He’s done fine but the harshest penalties are tied to the coaches, not the school.

I would be ecstatic getting this guy. People who played the game and coached it here all day that this guy would kill it here. This program needs a shot in the arm and I think if we don’t get Kiffin this guy would be fantastic.

Crushing, I know

The majority of penalties against ASU went into effect from 2022 through the 2024 academic year and many were self-imposed. ASU is also facing four years of probation from April 15, 2024 to April 14, 2028.

Financial penalties include a fine of $5,000, plus 1% of the program's budget, as well as a reduction in scholarships by one for the 2024-2025 academic year.

At best, he came in while that shite was still hanging over the program and still got them to the playoff in year two. So I would still argue it’s pretty a typical to coming in to somewhere like LSU where he can spend a shite load of money to overhaul the roster as he would see fit and make them an immediate contender.

Some folks on this site are legitimately morons. ASU was a fricking shite show prior to him getting there. Skattebo was a 4th round pick stop acting like he was getting carried by Leonard fournette or saquon Barkley. Not to mention he came from Sacramento fricking state not a lot of big time schools were even after him in the portal so he doesn’t get any credit for his talent evaluation ?

In a down year with multiple injuries including to his starting qb he’s still 8-3 on pace to be 9-3. He made the fricking playoffs by year 2 nearly beating a loaded Texas team . I’m glad some of yall aren’t in charge of picking us a head coach

Dillingham definitely has his faults, but can you imagine the enthusiasm if we hire Tulane’s coach? Talk about a let down.

Some other concerns with Dillingham are that he never played college football and that both FSU and Oregon dramatically improved after he left.

While he was the offensive coordinator at FSU, in 2020 and 2021, FSU ‘s offense averaged 396 ypg and 376 ypg, going 3-6 and 5-7 respectively. The year after he left they averaged 484 ypg and went 10-3.

While he was the OC at Oregon, Oregon averaged 500 YPG ( very good offense) and the year after he left, playing a more difficult schedule, they improved to 531 YPG and went 12-2 playing in the Rose Bowl.

Currently ASU is:

77th in offensive points/game
33rd in defensive yards/game
44th in defensive points/game
103rd in 3rd down conversions %
101st in red zone scoring %
110th in penalties/game
93rd in penalty yards/game

Make the honest argument for him to me.

Roster matters. And it matters just as much as anything else.

Not even bringing Arizona St to the CFP? Arizona St. a team with about a B+ roster? Nothing at all huh?

The 3 teams that consistently recruit in the top 5:
UGA
Bama
Ohio St

Yeah, weird, isn't it?

I’m waiting for people to pick apart his wins & losses like Drinkwitz

The big 12 was an absolute joke last year.

Maybe so, but they weren’t pushed over and rolled in their game.

And after losing Leavitt, Arizona State is still in the running to make it this season too. Regardless of conference power. It’s in the discussion.

They lost to Cincinnati and Texas Tech.

But it wasn’t suitable for Drinkwitz to lose to Georgia abs Alabama every year lol
