Thanks for your concern.
I'll pass it along.

Boosters stop giving money when the program starts to not live up to the standard, not when they feel they’ve been used to much.
Before these decisions are made to fire a coach and pay his buyout, it is only done once the boosters are ready to pony up the bill. It’s not like we just send them a invoice in the mail after we make the decision

Nebraska's boosters probably got sick of throwing money into the program
They didn't, but let's just pretend they did; "getting sick of throwing money into the program" is different than "running out of money".
BTW: Assuming our boosters ever "run out of money" (which they won't bc they are always making more), then we'll start worrying about the price of buyouts.
Does that make you feel better?

Don't you people realize that the boosters don't have unlimited funds, and what happens if they run out of money that they're willing to donate?

Part of an ad's job, probably the biggest part, is the ability to raise that money to make these moves. Woodward doesn't seem to have a problem raising the money. Don't worry it will be there.
When AD made the mistakes with contracts in first place what (or who) does AD owe for getting him out of situation leak free?
Throwing someone else’s big money around is easy to get a lot of press and make many forget his part in large buyouts being paid for football coaches & not fixing the O problem or the problems O knows about, and Woodward should not get guaranteed raises or extensions until these hires actually successfully coach 2 or 3 seasons.

17 million is a crap load to pay a coach to not coach.
Fyi, if you add in the current staff buyouts and the bad hires that Woodward was a part of last year, LSU boosters are paying 30 million for coaches not to coach.
All in the same year he asked staff to take 5% pay cuts, laid off staff, put in a hiring freeze until 2023, and went begging hat in hand to boosters to cover the covid shortfall. And don't forgot about the Title IX investigation and various former employees lawsuits. But dont worry Woodward spends other people's money like no other so he is the "best AD ever"
Nobody should be surprised when ticket prices, parking, concessions, Taf fees, etc continue to raise the price to attend a game.

So tired of this take. Don't you people realize that the boosters don't have unlimited funds, and what happens if they run out of money that they're willing to donate? 17 million is a crap load to pay a coach to not coach. If we get a homerun hire this time, great, but what if we don't? Another 17 million? You can only milk that cow so many times.
I've said this several times here and always get downvoted, but saying "it's not your money why do you care" is equivalent to saying "Myles Brennan's injury isn't your arm so why do you care?"
It affects the team and the program. The money isn't unlimited. We aren't aTm or UGA.
You are right for the most part.
The fans here and in general simply don't understand the business end of this. It literally is not real money to them, thus the opinion. It was only a few years ago that the university held on to Miles in large part because of the buyout. That's a clear example of how large buyouts can affect the program.
However, the part you need to understand is that there is no choice. The payout is a necessity. You can't keep Orgeron. And, revenue will severely suffer if you do. You are right, the buyout IS a big deal and DOES hurt the program. But, the alternative is worse.
So, while your average "it's not real money" opinion is ignorant...it's closer to the truth than using the buyout to justify some other decision.

Yeah let's go cheap. Lsu did that in the 90s and got great results

Ed’s buyout is structured over the next 4 years, and while front loaded, $17M over 4 years is nothing to TAF. If the big check writers are pleased with the decision, which they appear to be, then stop stressing about it.

yeh because they will just raise ticket fees to account for the buyouts. The ones who say "the buyout isn't your money" must not have season tickets

Oh, you. As if LSU, like every other major program, isn’t going to go up on ticket prices over that span anyway.

you realize he isn't getting that in one lump sum, correct?

What do you mean?
You’re likely a troll at best or just a dumb arse. Not that it’s any of yours concern because it’s private money (largely from Bernard and Lipsey) but the $17M is paid over multiple years so the hit isn’t immediate.
The large boosters use the donation and get the charitable benefits for tax purposes; trust me the donors will still be able to afford a “double cheeseburger” if they want and can rinse/repeat if the next coach flops in 3 or 4 years.
There is no danger of shutting down the program.

have you ever paid TAF fees? Oh you probably think that the face value of tickets is the total cost huh

Show me where I indicate that.
Bottom line, LSU is going to increase what fans pay over that time period anyway, whether it be through ticket price increases, or other increases, buyout or no buyout for Ed.

naturally they increase...but they will increase more when you start paying out more...which results in higher increases to offset the loss

1st, if you prefer to worry about something that has no direct affect on you, then go for it.
2nd, Woodward won’t fire someone without having discussed the money aspect with the people who will be paying for it.
3rd, in many cases, those people are the ones pushing for said firing. They are fans just like you and I, which is why they’re willing to spend that money.
4th, it’s still not your money, no matter how much you choose to worry about it.
