Chip Kelly is smoke and mirrors. He needs a generational QB talent to bail him out of his shitty schemes. Will be interesting to watch

I wonder if David Shaw is still interested in coaching. He'd be a good fit at UCLA

A lot of the early adopters of the college football offensive renaissance got left behind once the rest of the world caught up

Solid move for Chip as he just gets to coach and probably avoid the NIL and portal headaches, booster schmoozing, etc.

Probably going to still make a killing since OSU is really pulling out all the stops to buy a title

Why would he bail on a $5 million plus buyout to take an OC job? He should've stayed at UCLA, gotten fired by midseason and then take a new job next year.

In 2008 his offense was innovative. No everyone’s doing it.

Nah Darron Thomas wasn't generational. Chip was just ahead of the curve and now he's not.

For reference, he only coached 4 years in the NFL and made over $40M

Everyone has a point that upon achieving a certain amount of wealth, they prefer to forgo future earnings and go in a different direction to be happy. Some do things like chase dreams and start restaurants and vineyards. At some point the incremental money isn't worth the hassle.

Chip Kelly's dream is to be a football coach, and in his current role he is not that. OSU gets him back to that core and give him a platform to make a case to the NFL. Makes fairly strong sense
