Told my wife after the first time he went in, it was some type of test. Toranaga has a lot of respect for Blackthorne already and vice versa... interested to see where things go. Assuming Mariko's husband is dead, but we didn't see it on screen so who knows.

Wife and I are loving the show. It's top notch. Quality is really good. They do a great job of not over saturating dialogue and allowing the actors to act so you can feel their emotion.
Good mix of everything that makes a A+ show and A+ show. Excited to see where it goes. Picked up the book las...

Guys it's not that complicated. All the European languages (Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese) are being spoken in English.
I imagine the showrunners didn't want to have the viewers watch subtitles throughout the entire show....
