The writer of this article very obviously has anti-Auburn bias. It's basically an amateurish slam piece on Auburn.
And I say this as someone who hates Auburn.
Thamel drug up old, ancient Auburn shite from decades ago.... Bowden/Tubbs "jetgate" bullshite. A slam piece on the program he hates with a passion.

Ultimately I highly suspect TU goes in another direction, if any, and the Saban/Malzahn stuff doesn't heat up in the least.
I think Texas could get Gus, but I don't think Gus is going to "flee" Auburn. They'll have to pay him some amount Auburn won't pay.

According to a source, Malzahn has told friends privately that coaching the Longhorns is his dream job.

Gus isn't big enough for Texass.
Thamel is right that Auburn will turn on him and dump him eventually though. Winning big in year 1 is often a kiss of death.

Ok but going 3-9 is better.
Gus will be at AU for a while.

Would someone point me to all these major programs that let shitty-performing coaches hang out indefinitely? And don't say Nutt, because I said "major program."

Loved your work in nash bridges fwiw

If i was him, i'd take it
A 100000000times better gig. He doesn't have to leave the state of tejas to get top talent. They have a war chest for any coaches he wants.
Auburn could not compete with Tejas on any level, when it comes to coaching benefits. Tejas has a war chest of money, that NO ONE can compete with. A ton of OIl money back them up.
Also, Austin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Auburn
Big12 is not a great conference, he could win it, by winning 1? possibly 2 big games a year. No Title game, Tejas going to playoff.

it would be interesting to see an Auburn coach leave without being fired...
Posted on 12/3/13 at 2:32 pm to Don Johnson
The article is stupid in suggesting that bc past coaches had discipline problems, Malzahn will.
But Texas would be anyone's dream job. Weak conference, great recruiting, lots of money, great facilities. You have to really try to lose there. Hell your own network.

Stories like this is what makes this time of year so fun. Just like 90% of these "stories", this is just shite that the coaches agent puts out there as a negotiating ploy for his client.
The real version of this story should read: "Malzahn tells Auburn to PAY ME MY DAMN MONEY!"

LOL at the argument Thamel is making.
Auburn got rid of previous coaches that went undefeated b/c of boosters got tired of him.
Therefore, you should go to Texas who just got rid of a coach that went undefeated and just had a 8-3 season because boosters got tired of him.

But Gus has no loyalty to us and would happily dump us, or so your fellow fans tell us. So why wouldn't we treat him in kind?
Posted on 12/3/13 at 3:14 pm to Don Johnson
Arkansas fans are gonna be pissed to hear this.

Bingo. This is not the first time this dipshit claimed he had a "source". He's as full of shite as a Christmas turkey.

Who is Gus's agent?
If it's Sexton, clearly, he has Thamel on his speed dial. He knows the Past with Thamel and Auburn, and spilling him this info get Gus and his staff a nice pay raise.
Sexton is the best, he's been able to get a lot of coaches big money.

Lets take a look at the Texas job:
1. The university virtually prints money.
2. Excellent facilities. If they don't have it and you want it, see #1. They'll build it for you.
3. Smack dab in the middle of a talent pool second to none.
Yeah, sterling piece of journalism there. I'd say Texas is the dream job of a lot of coaches
