re: T/F: those hoping for a Napier hire were the same ones that wanted Orgeron in 2016

how exactly is he "one of us"
If Napier coached at Ohio university, none of you would want him. The fact that he’s 45 minutes down the road is why he’s being mentioned so much.

False
Napier isn't my top option, but I won't be disappointed if he's our guy
I never wanted the reigns handed to fricking Orgeron. I vividly remember where I was, shaking my head during his introductory PC.

I feel like Aranda wouldn’t be getting this much pub if he didn’t coordinate at LSU.
Aranda is one of if not the top candidate at one of the most storied programs USC when it’s been a decade since he’s been on the west coast. Safe to say he’d be a top candidate regardless.
Napier on the other hand has been an also ran at some mid tier sec programs and hasn’t been mentioned at other elite jobs. According to his fan boys he got offers at every job but this is not backed up by real reports. It will be interesting to see if he gets real looks at from Florida.

False. I melted hard over the O hire. I wouldn't be disappointed with Napier.

More like BS made uo by anti napier crowd, not even close to the same people that wanted O. Seems to me to be the opposite. her is the bottom line and pretty much everyone agrees
1. We are going hard after Riley, but its prolly 5% chance or less it happens
2. Jimbo, fickel and tucker are not happening. (Don't want tucker anyways)
3. Your next fricking tier is napier, aranda, kiffin, stoops and Campbell.
1) aranda is prolly going usc and is less proven than napier. Look at the other thread discussing it about how he failed on his first oc hire. Also he is not a good recruiter, ok but not good.
2) Campbell has already pulled his name from the jobs that are open. Pretty well known in agent circles
3) napier has done better than kiff did at fau. Also kiffin has never put together back to back good seasons and is not nearly the recruiter napier is
4) you really want mark fricking stoops over napier?
Chadwell is other but he has had ncaa sanctions in him before and never been part of a big program
If you go look, the g5 coaches who do well are the ones that have been apart of a big time program and known for recruiting. They do well when they go back to p5 after having lots of g5 success.

That’s just not true. Kiffin actually won his conference and won it twice at a level above the sun belt.
He’s also winning at ole miss.

I would support a Napier hire. He would not be my top choice but I would support the hire. In part, because I like Napier as a coach and I think he will be successful. And because I think this has been and will continue to be a thorough and proper coaching search.
I was not thrilled with the Orgeron hire. I thought it was a weak hire, by a weak AD, after a piss-poor search.

Napier has always been in my top 5, and I melted my arse off when O was hired. I honestly don’t see how folks draw comparisons between the two.
To me it’s
Riley
Aranda
Napier
In order.

At this point, if it isn't Riley (or an equivalent "whale") or Aranda, then give me Napier all damn day.
Posted on 11/21/21 at 6:42 pm to hg
I think that's more of the Aranda crowed:

The people who equate wanting Napier with wanting Orgeron have the IQ of someone who would have defended the hiring of a coach with a losing record and a history of complete failure. You can’t make this stuff up.

Maybe go compare the records before you go running your mouth. Who gives a frick about a conference championship when you lose three games and having a losing season every other year.
And yea he is doing at ole miss the same as he did at usc and fau, a good season every other one. Next year ole miss will be 500 or below just like kiff always does.
Show me where kiff beat a ranked p5 team and had less than 3 losses in a season.
How about compare the records of kiff at fau.
If you think kiff did better at fau than nap at ull.....than you are irrational.

Right
Mark Hudspeth was rolling at the end of Miles’ tenure and no one wanted that dude to coach at LSU lol

I really hope Aranda goes to USC.

Well that’s usually the starting goal of each season it also is a sign of how well a coach is schematically because it’s against his peers. Why would I want the second or third best coach in the sun belt to go up against saban?
Billy hasn’t won his conference despite having the most talent in the conference. That’s a big red flag
