It’d be such an lsu thing to do to hire Saban. We’re all so short sighted, we’d throw a parade and point and laugh at bama. Meanwhile, they hire Lincoln Riley and just about the time he gets things set up the way he wants them in Tuscaloosa, Saban retires and Riley dominates our arse for another decade and a half.

So if it’s not announced next Sunday, can we assume our next coach is coaching in a conference championship?

Well, that would mean Urban then.

The more LSU thing would be that we have fans that seriously wouldn’t consider Nick Saban the absolute best hire we could make.

Incredibly negative and flat untrue but indicative of how many fans think.
LSU has never done anything even remotely like what you describe.
As a matter of fact, LSU had been incredibly successful for decades.

It’s time for fans to start feeling good about LSU and turn their mindset from “why me?. To “why not me?”

I just can't recall a coach bailing on the team right before a conference championship or potential playoff appearance. Maybe I am just missing someone.

Unless it's an NFL coach.

Rileys teams don't perform well vs actual good teams.

OU fans are starting to doubt.

Its time for Riley to make changes.

I'm not sure he's a strong enough HC to carry a team.

quote:

Coming into the season, Oklahoma was seen as a top-three team in every preview magazine across the country and why wouldn’t they be? You had a star quarterback returning in Spencer Rattler, or so we thought. You had a budding defense that returned eight starters and just finished 28th in total defense in 2020. Key transfers like Eric Gray, Key Lawrence, and Mike Woods were supposed to fill in the gaps that the Sooners had and this team looked like a National Title contender. Fast forward to November 2021, and the preseason seems like a distant dream for Sooner Nation. Oklahoma now ranks 71st in total defense, Heisman-favorite Spencer Rattler was benched for a true freshman, and Oklahoma’s best win is a six-point victory over a 7-3 Kansas State team. Oh, and they were just manhandled for the first time since the 2019 Peach Bowl.

quote:

Hire a coordinator to work with quarterbacks, pass down that knowledge to him and trust in the staff to get the job done. If he can’t give up working with the quarterbacks, then allow the coordinator to call scripted plays and give him some freedom to grow into the position. Lincoln is one of the best offensive minds in all of football, and he is an uber-talented play-caller, but his team is suffering because of it.

A head coach needs to be able to help make adjustments on the sidelines, and not only at halftime.

Why hire the student when you can hire the master.

That’s a bit dramatic for a team that has only one loss and will likely win their conference

Maybe they are trying to set themselves up for the inevitable "We didn't really want him here any more" kind of talk that would flow if he leaves for LSU.

It would have to be Petersen. Everyone one else worthy is in a bowl game or going to playoffs.

This dude is full of shite. There is no such reliable information like this circulating in OU circles. I talked to Gary S this weekend, he's a major OU booster and he had not heard ANYTHING. Major booster as in both his jets have OU painted on the tail.

It could end up being Riley but it's not going down right now.

That's how I feel and I don't see how that makes everybody happy.

I personally prefer someone who is currently coaching. This info just make it seem like it isn't someone currently coaching.
