Nebraska has zeroed in on former Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule as @HuskerFBNation’s next head coach, and the two sides hope to finalize a deal in the coming days, sources tell ESPN.

I think any new coach comes with Mickey staying on in some capacity

Already posted, but nice hire, if true.

Congrats.

Sources: Matt Rhule and Nebraska are negotiating a deal to make him the school’s next head coach. There are some details to be finalized, including with the Panthers, who owe him nearly $34 million.

This will be a great hire and Nebraska will become a force in the Big 10 with him and will compete with tOSU and Michigan for Conference Championships. About time Nebraska went after a big-time coach.

The fact this wasn't Auburn's #1 target is sad and hilarious. NU is basically a dead ant pile of a program.

Yes, NU also has an elite NIL presence. I think Rhule also enjoys challenges. If it’s true I like the chances it could bring us back to the Pelini years at least

Looks like a great hire. I'll go against the grain and say he'll fail spectacularly there despite it being a great hire.

Good hire for Nebraska but man thats a tough gig to win at. Hope Rhule thought this out or is getting a huge payday because if he fails, he will have to get a lesser job after or get into the infamous coaching clinic.

And y’all would be calling him a terrible hire if Auburn had offered him.

Agreed. The game has changed tremendously since he was last a coach in the college ranks. I don’t see anyone winning at schools like A&M, Auburn, Nebraska, etc. going forward no matter how much money they desperately dump into coaches and recruits

Nebraska still recruits top 25 talent. No reason to not win 9-10 games in that crap division
