Why delay the decision on his end, if he’s not staying?

OM has now publicly said they are going to force his hand next Friday.

Hes not delaying the decision. He wants to coach his last regular season game.

He is leaving. He just wants to coach his team. Not sure if it’s a great idea but this is kind of uncharted waters here.

He’s waiting on the finish of the Egg Bowl just to show respect to Ole Miss.
His destination will leak before then

They don’t announce a future announcement unless they already know what it will be.

This gives them time to attack full steam for their new opening. Just need to fend Florida’s last ditch effort off.

If they start interviewing other coaches, you’ll have your answer. It won’t make it to Friday regardless, in my opinion.

Him saying anything with the regular season still in progress was unlikely

Is it him or his kid? I could see him trying to stall for his son more so for himself that’s what a good dad would do. I would. I don’t know the guy though so who knows?

Lane knows he's going to catch all kinds of shite for bailing on his playoff-bound team. But he's a decent enough guy (and concerned enough about his reputation) to want to help them win the Egg Bowl and clinch a playoff berth before he bails. All signs point to him leaving but the way they're doing it makes perfect sense to me given the situation.

More money- the longer this goes on, the longer the bidding goes on

He is sticking to not making decisions until after the season. For him, just regular season counts.

Why not just come out and say that then?

The decision was made, AD told, and the AD elected to let him coach with announcement afterwards.

Two reasons 1) hoping Kiffin changes his mind 2) figure out how to proceed if he doesn’t

If there was still any bidding going on, Ole Miss wouldn't have released their statement this afternoon.

Why would you want the guy who is possibly the next HC to leave with playoffs on the table?

If she'll cheat with you, she'll cheat on you, bubba.

This is the most stupid-arse take I have seen yet. If he was staying they would have announced it. They are playoff bound with 1 more win. Do you really think Ole Miss would delay announcing Kiffin is staying to frick over LSU and Florida when it will actually do more damage to OM's football team? LSU and Florida can both wait 1 more week, OM's football team not knowing if their coach is staying or going is 100% going to impact the egg bowl. OM brass doesn't do that if he is staying. This take is absolutely garbage.
