I would gladly take either, but they are not without risk as some have suggested.

Every name being put out there has risks.

Of all college coaches, saban and day have the fewest reasons to leave their current gigs.

Then admit it's a dumb as frick statement. You think moving to the SEC makes the job less attractive to coaches because it's a much better conference? C'mon man

It boosts the appeal of the job, but it also increases it's difficulty.

OU is not going to be a consistent CFP team in the sec without an upgrade to defensive recruiting. It's just not.

LSU has the only thing that Riley doesn't already have at OU...top defensive in state talent with less competition.

Eta - Riley coming to LSU is very very doubtful. But there IS a reason for him to consider it.

Why would he leave Ohio State? He is being well paid and has owned the Big Ten for several years. He has absolutely no motivation to move; Ohio State would match LSU dollar for dollar if they wanted to keep him.

Ohio State is a more prestigious job than LSU and he has an insanely stacked roster.

Why in the world would he leave OSU for LSU?

Ohio State could match any offer.

OU has a relatively easy path to the playoff in the BIG 12.

It won’t be like that in the SEC.

Exactly. Ohio State isn't OU

They're saying that Oklahoma is going to be in for a rude awakening when SEC play starts and they realize that the bad teams not named vandy are Oklahoma State level. Riley will have significantly less shine if he goes 9-3 with the occasional season that competes for the playoffs, so his value is probably never going to be higher than it is right now.

I'm definitely not going to say it's a lock because I'm pretty sure such a move has literally never happened outside of obvious behind the scene problems/coach returning home, but if we see a headline in 2 months saying Riley to LSU is a done deal, that's why.

Fickell was not on staff when Day was named interim.
He had already been the coach at Cincy for 2 years.

How were they going to choose Fickell over Day when he was coaching another team dumbass?

Not to mention he held the interim tag after Tressel and went 6-6.
You think Ohio State was going to promote him after that?
He needed to go prove himself elsewhere and he did.
