why go the cheap route with hoke? hoke would probably coach for way, way less (i'm thinking 1.5-2M), but if the money's there, and it seems to be, then why not try to attract a bigger name?

why spend more when you can spend less? who is to say that a "big" name will be any more successful than Hoke?

Maybe save money on the HC and hire the best cooordinators you can find for ~1 mil apiece.

Alot of the Michigan fans seem dissatisfied with Hoke's HC record.

The fans really seem enamored with Les. On TV they seem to blow him off. It will be interesting.

I'm pretty sure Hoke is just the safety valve. You gotta believe they will pursue other names before to settle for him. All the Hoke hype tells you is that they're expecting it to be tough to get the main guys on their list.

Miles will be gone after the bowl i think. LSU booed him off the field too many times. Michigan will drive the brinks truck up to his house, roll out the red carpet, and offer him the Royal Scepter.

Miles will return home to save the sinking ship that is Michigan football. 7 wins next year and he is a genius. 8 or more and he gets a statue.

IMHO Miles leaves. LSU is a top program though, and it will get a top coach to replace Miles. Miles had the unenviable job of trying to follow Saban. Following Miles will be easier than following Saban.

Seems like the adminstration doesn't want to spend the bigh money, but the fans want Harbaugh, who will cost BIG money. The AD may throw big money at Harbaugh (knowing he likely won't take the job) just to show the fans, "look, we tried, he didn't want to come here." This may make a Hoke hire a little more palatable for the Michigan fans

you don't need to pay the coordinators in the Big 10+1+1 alot to compete.

Until the next coach only wins 9 games and finishes 2 or 3 in the SEC West

dunno, maybe to me, after a failed experiment with RR, you might want to go out and spend a little more, budget be damned.

they have a huge alumni base, I'm sure they will fork over the extra money it takes.

Yeah, Miles only had 4 10+ win seasons in 6 years. 2nd best record in SEC over those 6 years (only behind Meyer and that's by 1 game). Sounds much easier than following Saban.

actually it is.

The question was if they can get JH then why get Hoke.

Well the simple fact is right now it seems like the 49ers are going to have him as their HC by Friday.
