FWIW:

Napier wants to see the rule changed to only allow players to gain NIL money once they enter their junior years. They know that’s not doable with the current rules but he and some key figures around CFB are going to work to make that rule change

NIL will only increase "entitlement" amongst the top few and resentment to the team guys.

so hire the coach that wants to take monies out of potential recruits pockets... that's the anti of op's search...

The thinking is that that may happen naturally as a result of a market correction anyway. Outright paying players through boosters under NIL is where things need to be cleaned up.

Coaching candidates who have gotten beyond the courting phase and are in serious talks with LSU (through agents) have to have a comprehensive plan in place to deal with NIL and its future implications.

I would assume the AD will take that out of the hands of any coach and set that up within the athletic department independent of any sport. I'd expect it to be a person versed in the specifics of the rules, with an understanding of business and how to leverage this for the benefit of both the players and the program.

That is a full time job in and of itself. Coach involvement should be simply to lean on that person for assistance and understand what they can and cannot promise a recruit, IMO.

Or maybe it is not that complicated and I'm full of crap

This should not be handled by a coach. A marketing representative should do this, and I think that any NIL deals should be shared equally amongst team members.

We all know oaches don't even vote in the coaches poll, they have people to do it for them. They have people to help with NIL, too.

So many stupid proposals. The school/state with the NIL rules that provide the most earning potential will get the recruits.

Stephanie Rempe

Has absolutely no input in deciding on the next coach. Her only input will be getting that coach up to speed on how LSU navigates the changing landscape.

But to blow up your nugget even further. She came to LSU from A&M. So if she is being allowed input on the new coach, you don't have to make many guesses as to which one that would be. And it also probably means she is already into the advising the next coach phase.

I didn't read his post as saying he would have input into the hire. I read it as she's requesting Woodward consider NIL in the hiring process.

So how is that a nugget?

How does Stephanie or Scott know the NIL knowledge that a coach posses?

They don't, which is why I assume they're asking the coaches to provide some insight into their NIL philosophy and how they're currently handling it.

I mean, it's not much of one, but it's definitely not something that's been discussed here much as a consideration in the coaching hire.

100% disagree. She is Woodward’s right hand. Will she “decide”? No. But she absolutely will be involved in facilitating, vetting, etc.

This is irrelevant. She was with Woodward at Washington before Texas AM and Oklahoma, UTEP, and Arizona before that.

This separates great coaches from not so great ones. Why do you think Saban built LSU into a powerhouse? Because he was a forward thinker and built it from the ground up. What about Skip? Think about it. You need coaches who have their hands in everything to keep your program elite. They have to think outside the box and not just X and Os maintaining their teams.

This relates in a positive way to the OP. Of course, it may be negative regarding LSUs prospects.

Not sure if the “ambassador” role is similar to Saban shilling for Aflac?

Exactly. If you ever heard coach o speak about nil he basically said "i stay out of it".

They want a coach who realizes what it is and how to handle it within the locker room.
