Brian Kelly will be adding Sherman Wilson to his recruiting staff. Wilson was the Director of Recruiting at La Tech last season
Wilson served as a scouting apprentice for the Los Angeles Rams since June of 2020 where he learned scouting techniques and evaluation procedures from NFL executives. Wilson also was working as a recruiting analyst at Memphis since February of 2020 where he assisted in signing the highest-rated class (2021) in program history.
Before his arrival at Memphis, Wilson served as the director of football operations and recruiting at Southern from 2018-20. He helped Southern earn their first-ever No. 1 HBCU recruiting ranking in 2019.
Wilson acted as the defensive backs coach at Amite High School in the 2017 season and the defensive coordinator/careers coach at Albany High School in 2016. He helped coach the Albany team to its best record in school history during the 2016 season. From 2014-15, Wilson was the defensive coordinator at Hammond Junior High Magnet School where he not only coached the junior high defense but also served as an administrator for all athletic events.

It seems Kelly is doing what Napier should have done.
Hire actual coaches, regardless of their LA ties, then fill the recruiting/support staff with LA guys with connections all around the state.
Napier filled his on field staff with every available coach with LA ties

Maybe Florida wasn't willing to throw as much money around.

It’s almost like we’re seeing the differences between a veteran head coach and a green head coach.

Napier has put together a good staff so far. He seems to be molding similar to Saban in that he wants to make Louisiana a priority because he knows it breeds championships. Not sure how much success he'll have here but it's not a bad strategy on paper.
He's not going to ignore his backyard in Florida. No reason to ignore Louisiana either especially when a big part of Bama's dynasty is built on Louisiana talent. He already has established connections here why would he squander that opportunity? He doesn't need to raid it like Saban he just needs to steal a big guy here or there to make a difference for them.

Another good hire. So far I would argue his "behind the scene" hires are just as impressive as his on field hires.

becasue florida breeds athletes just as good and there are way more of them and the rivals there are down.
bama and uga are built on florida players as much as anything. he should focus on there first and foremost.
but i think napier has done a fine job.

You will have all the “nutting for Napier” guys in here soon to tell you how you are wrong and how Napier’s staff is so much better than Kelly’s even though Kelly’s is demonstrably better at every position.

Our football program is being run by adults again. We haven't had that since Saban left.
I am enjoying every minute of it.
