re: Riley shrugged and didn't speak when he was first asked about the LSU job last night.

Statement could be true if he considers the interim coach the “Next” coach…lol

I don’t want a coach that wears visors…

Technically, Brad Davis is going to be the next coach at LSU
It's a technicality, but it's true.

What I take from his demeanor is that he is not going to be the next HC at LSU and he is not happy about it. He is clearly angered by the question, which is odd if he turned LSU down.

If you watch more of his press conference, it was done via zoom and he basically looked the same the entire time. Angry, disappointed and never facing the camera.
I honestly felt like he came across as someone who knows he is leaving, but is disappointed he let him team down. Then the big question came and he shut it down.
Only time will tell us whether he was/is in play or not.

He almost seemed mad that he knows he's not coming to LSU. Could it be that he's the one that got jilted and not vise versa?

It’s over man, give it up. He’s not the only good coach out there.

Davis is the next LSU coach. Riley could be the one after?

Let it go he’s not coming
That’s what got Bill in trouble. If he had not left his DNA on Lewinski’s dress, he would have stuck to his story and discredited her. Maybe Riley was so excited while signing the contract, he left a marker.

Normally I cringe at posts that are reaching to see what they want to see, but I actually agree with your point. He was hesitant to say what he said, whatever the reason. That's about as much as you can deduce from it.

That’s pretty damn definite
His words are really definitive but his body language is different with that question than the rest of the interview. His eyes get really wide after he lays the bomb and he looks like he has to swallow before he says “Next question.”
As to what we can deduce from that? Absolutely nothing. It just demonstrates that that question is stressing him out for one reason or another. There are a lot of reasons why it could be a pain point for him besides him secretly getting on a plane to sign a contract.
Nothing to do but wait and see. If he flat out lied, it was just because he didn’t want to talk to reporters about it all night and couldn’t think of a better way to deflect. I don’t think he is lying though.

He also said having a special team coach wouldn't have helped...like teaching a player not to catch a punt on the 5 yard line. And has no plans to add a special team coach.
That was a strange response. It's like he didn't want to take responsibility...just in the mood to deny anything negative thrown his way.

You're bargaining.
Can one of the board counselors tell us what stage that is?
