If Kiffin comes to LSU we’ll have to deal with some kind of drama constantly. That is how Kiffin operates.

Not sure why we want him. He hasn’t won anything and his entire history is that he sows chaos and heartache wherever he goes. He calmed down for a few years at Ole Miss, but look what he is doing to them now.
Nuss was not accurate against La Tech. He missed a couple of gimme deep passes and even his short passes were sailing on him. He is no Joe Burrow.

And if the O-line can’t give him time to throw against La Tech, then that number 3 ranking is a joke. It will be a very long season.

If BK is running the offense, then we don’t need some big shot OC coming in because….BK is running the offense. He will be our big shot OC.
Nothing to brag about. This is not his class. This is the train wreck that Orgeron left.
Why are people freaking out? We had the same gnashing of teeth when Riley went to USC, questioning if LSU or Baton Rouge were so undesirable that no one wanted to come here. Then we STOLE the HC from one of the most storied programs in the history while they still had a chance to make the playoffs! Have people already forgotten what a huge coup LSU pulled off in hiring Kelly?

And as for Baton Rouge being undesirable, would you really prefer to live in Starkville, or Fayetteville, or Oxford, or Auburn, or Tuscaloosa?

Get a grip, people. Kelly has a stellar track record of hiring assistants. Three of his last four DC hires are now head coaches, which is the only reason he is even having to do a search for a DC right now, because his last DC is now HC at Notre Dame. He will find great assistants. Let him do his job.

Kelly is a smart, highly experienced, highly successful head coach who knows a good assistant coach when he sees one. If he decides that White is the right person for the job, then chances are he has good reasons.

If Miles or Orgeron was doing the hiring I might be more concerned about these kind of stats. But Kelly has a proven record of success, is obviously much more intelligent than our prior two high school level head coaches and is capable of accurately judging the knowledge, skills and abilities of the candidates he is considering. In other words, I actually trust his judgment, which is a refreshing change. I intend to enjoy having a real football coach by not stressing out over every decision he makes.
Well, BK beat us out for the services of Marcus Freeman last year, so whatever his reputation may be, he is still better at hiring staff than we were before he came.
Good points. LSU recruits itself in football. Giving any assistant credit for LSU’s recruiting success is like giving a tv weatherman credit because the sun rose in the east as expected this morning.

Louisiana produces a large number of good DB prospects and LSU will get its share of those unless the coaches run them off. We’ll do fine as long as Kelly hires a reasonably competent coach. The odds of that happening are much higher under Kelly than under his two predecessors, so we should be fine.
We went 6 and 6 this year, but for some reason people are acting like we have the best, most irreplaceable assistants in college football. Nonsense. We have a staff of losers who have underperformed for two years. I have no problem if Kelly cleans house and replaces every single one.

Kelly is getting paid a lot of money to do one thing - win championships. If he doesn’t win Natties, he is gone. He knows that. Give the man a chance to do his job.

If napier hires a good oc i think he will do very well at florida. The guy can coach. That much is clear.

He can coach against Sunbelt coaches earning an average of $800,000 a year at schools whose football programs operate at a deficit. No one has any clue whether he can coach against the best coaches in the country at programs that generate huge amounts of revenue.

Great hype video from LSU

Hope I did that right. Love all the commentators saying what a great job LSU is.
Just a big echo chamber. All of those links are stories sourced back to Bruce Feldman at the Athletic.

Could be Cristobal. He still has to play for the conference championship.

He’s such a child.

Cristobal also makes sense. West Coast guy, probably targeted by USC. LSU grabs him first, so USC has to go to plan B, which was Riley.
You guys need to get a grip. All this tells me is that LSU never offered Riley. And we certainly never went after Napier. So, neither is a loss. Our coach is obviously still competing for a championship, hence no announcement yet. USC and Fla are hiring losers who are free to announce this week.

re: Riley to USC…

That tells me that LSU never offered. If Riley takes the USC job, then he is ready to make a move and I seriously doubt that USC could outbid LSU. Woodward is targeting someone else.
What I take from his demeanor is that he is not going to be the next HC at LSU and he is not happy about it. He is clearly angered by the question, which is odd if he turned LSU down.

but Aranda feels like that long-term winner to me

Why is that? We have no way of knowing who does or does not have an interest in the NFL. For all we know, Aranda is as big a risk to leave as Riley if Aranda has enough success. If you think Aranda is a lower risk because he isn’t good enough to go to the NFL, then that is a very good reason not to hire him.

We lost Saban to the NFL because he was that good. But he left LSU better than he found it. I don’t think anyone would say that we should have passed on Saban for a lesser coach.
Makes absolutely no sense. He is barely over .500 winning percentage, he has lost 2 of his last 3 games and OSU just made his team look like a rent-a-win. So they pay him $3 million per year more than the coach who just embarrassed him? Somebody is smoking some really good stuff over there.
