this doesn't tell the truth. after saban's recruits left (2007), miles has won 66% of his sec games. that is not elite

Excellent observation. Don't forget the first ever NCAA investigation at Michigan.

I can't help but get over how much he flopped when the pressure was on at Michigan. It's easy to win at Arizona when nobody expects anything out of your team. LSU is a different story
Michigan got better every year under RR, but he never had the support he needed because he wasn't a Michigan man. Hoke got 4 years and drove that program off a cliff, while RR has Zona playing in their conference championship game.

except when you play teams like Alabama or a Les Miles LSU team....you know conservative,smash-mouth offense that controls clock

This would piss me off so much, he's the guy we should have gone for instead of an unproven MWC coach who can't even win his conference.

Auburn (with Gus running the offense) and UF under Meyer haven't been slouches in the SEC running that offense

because this is so much worse than- playing in your own backyard, against the legendary coach you followed, with perhaps the best team the program has ever fielded, without any semblance of a gameplan, with no answers or adjustments, and getting absolutely owned and skullfked in the biggest game of your career.
yeah, rich rod is such a loser.

If this guy can get the Arizona Wildcats to contend for a spot in the Rose Bowl, he could do wonders at LSU and he is my guy if Les leaves.

1998 was the Offensive Coordinator at Tulane when they were undefeated and score 30+ points in all but two games.

Followed Tommy Bowden to Clemson and helped turn that program around before moving to W.V. as head coach.

Watching Brandon Harris play in the fourth quarter against Miss. State, I couldn't help but think about Pat White, who Rodriguez coached at West Virginia. Can you imagine what Rodriguez could do with the L.S.U. offense?

I believe you're missing a coaching stop.

Hiring Rich Rodriguez is the equivalent of this scenario:
Little Larry turns 16 and is given a Ford Focus. He does really well driving that Ford Focus. So well in fact we decided to give him the keys to a Ferrari. He abruptly drives that Ferrari into a telephone pole. So you buy him another Ford Focus and he drives that for a while and does pretty well. Then you offer him the keys to a Ferrari again based on how he is driving that Ford Focus?

Anyone that blames RichRod for the failure at Michigan is ignoring the reality. Michigan failed RichRod; RichRod didn't fail Michigan. It was a bunch of Schembechler-worshipers on the inside that sabotaged RichRod. Remember the "voluntary workouts" scandal? That was all leaked and instigated by "true Michigan" people to submarine RR. They hated him from the get-go.

RichRod was too good for that bastion of sanctimony and hypocrisy.

RichRod would wreck shop in the SEC.

The Michigan AD underestimated how much the opposition would become entrench to the RichRod decision. They couldn't afford to keep him and as a result he was fired before he coached a game, just needed to force a bad season to do it

That's all fine and dandy but at the end of the day winning cures all and he couldn't win at Michigan. He took over a program that was doing well but wanted Carr gone because it had gotten "stale" (sound familiar) and he couldn't do shite.

He wasn't fired because of some dispute with the BOT or President,he was fired because his product on the field sucked.

He took over a team that hadn't missed a bowl since 1974 and went 9-4 the year before and he went 3-9. Two years later he would finally get them back to the Gator bowl where they would get arse-raped on national television by MS State. But yeah the people inside the program fricked that one up

my only concern would be bringing the 3-3-5 here, but other than that I'd be all over RR here

speaking of the 3-3-5, what ever happened to Bill Clay? Poor guy had his bags packed ready to come to BR with Les....until he was told "ummmm.....yeah about that. You're not coming."

not sure why RR is fixated on the 3-3-5 alignment.

think an RR/Chavis combo would be salty, as long as RR leaves him alone, which i'm sure would happen.

I have a bunch of Michigan Alums in my family. Rich Rod was sabotaged there. They have a ton of "Schenbeckler" people who like "Michigan football" that are influential around the program. They told me that RichRod basically had no chance to succeed there.

There is a reason he had success at evert stop besides Michigan

The good ol boys club there didn't like him coming in and ripping everything apart. He went in there and wanted to fix all the bullshite 3 yards and a cloud of dust B1G stuff. First thing was the weight room. Which he said was substandard then their training methods in the gym were not up to par with the evolution of college football.

His S&C coach Mike Barwis was one of the best in the nation.

I believe the greatest fan discontent with Miles has to do with the fact that he appears to squander the loads of talent he recruits. There is no guarantee that RichRod would recruit to the same level.

Obviously, someone would have to replace Miles, but the assumption is false that the solution is as simple as plugging RichRod in with a new offense and that all other things would remain equal (talent, quality defense) as they were under Miles. That won't happen.

Rich Rod should have turned down Michigan. I am one that thinks Michigan is an exception on his resume. Michigan hired Rich to change their culture and half way through decided they didn't really want to change once they learned what it would take to change it. Rich is a good coach that would be successful at LSU. I'd take him.

The only part about Rich that gives me pause is how he handled some of the press coverage of UM during those years. He kinda came unglued at points that didn't reflect well on him. However, I also think the administration there was not supportive and some of that was coming through.
