Jimmy Smith’s scoop. There’s more, but you need to buy a TigerDetails sub. I do think he has some bias. But who knows exactly

Just wow. I am not here to make sense of this for you--hell, I can't make sense of it myself. It became apparent over the last few days that there isn't anything solid in place for Corey Raymond at LSU. He has been waiting to sit down with Kelly, but that day never came. Coaches like to hire their guys, but I, along with many others, believed that this wouldn't apply to a guy of Corey's stature. Miami toyed around with the idea of bringing Corey in, but it was Florida and Napier that pounced on the opportunity.

Lmfao I shouldn’t be surprised that this board is even pretending it’s okay with losing Corey Raymond.
Can some of ya'll just cool the frick out and let the man do his job for . . . I don't know . . . 30 days, before you start melting? Raymond is a good coach and recruiter, but let's see who BDK brings in.
There are going to be coaching changes. There are going to be recruits who de-commit. Grab some sack and let it play out.

Either gross incompetence or Kelly didn’t want to retain him. Better have someone special lined up.
For people saying this is BS, other media have said the same thing about other staff members. Kelly apparently hasn’t met with many of them.

Wait. So now Corey Raymond is a cancer?

Not sure what to believe yet. But if Woodard or Kelly can’t have uncomfortable conversations with long time employees that won’t be retained, that is totally unacceptable & unprofessional

Do Kelly or Woodward strike you as the type to avoid uncomfortable conversations?

Like I said, other local media have said Kelly hadn’t met with many of the staff yet. I don’t understand that at all. Corey has been here for over a decade. Regardless of if you’re keeping him, he at least deserves a courtesy meeting.
Maybe in Kelly’s mind this is some weird sort of loyalty test, but man.

Lester and PK already coming out guns blazing.

Because it’s literally ok. LSU was putting out elite DB talent for years before Raymond ever cashed an LSU check. It’s just the idea of change people freak out over.

its not just directed to you
but “this board” is lazy
on another note:
I know Corey a little bit, he is a good dude and an excellent coach and recruiter. he was involved with more than just DBs and he was tight with LA and Regional HS Coaches
that being said, he also was part of the old guard, he has ties to a lot of the Good Ole Boys and Girls in the background of the program and CBK is doing an organizational reboot
THIS is the alignment CBK and SW talked about. CBK has a plan and the admin is getting behind him. Sacred cows are getting slaughtered, it aint pretty but it has to be.
If corey is spending a lot of time recruiting here for UF, he is wasting his time. he has all they need in FL, other than the occasional kid here or there from the region, he wont hurt LSU at all.
he got a raise and a new title, good for him
once a Tiger, always a Tiger, wish him nothing but the best

Well said. I truly don't understand people on here now trying to shite on him now though.
If you believe in your coach and you trust him to do his job then you have to let him get his staff together how he wants it, whether we like it or not. The only thing that will matter is the Ws. People have been begging for massive changes to the program and now they're freaking out when it's happening. I don't get it. I want to see how it plays out before getting hysterical.

LSU Pass Defense since 2015. We’ve had multiple D. Coordinators…but the same DB coach…

quote:it was. Doesn't matter if you never heard the term, the country obviously thought of lsu dbs that way. We literally had the best CB in the country every year for a 4 year stretch from 2008-2012. 2 Thorpe Awards and a bednarik during that time frame.
don’t remember DBU being uttered before Raymond got here, but maybe I just wasn’t paying attention. We’ve had really good DB’s obviously
Nobody cares about the "term" DBU

Doubtful. Probably more of a timing issue. Raymond has been wanting answers and Kelly likely was trying to hold off until a new DC was in and make the call.
Raymond probably saw a sure thing and jumped. He didnt want to take a wait and see how things shake out approach.
Posted on 12/9/21 at 2:32 am to LSURep864
He might be back when Florida is firing it’s entire staff in another 3 years. Raymond was a great recruiter and a solid coach but he wasn’t DBU, the players were, and the university basically recruits itself. It sucks we lost Ricks but if he doesn’t want to be here and wants to jump to our rival because his first choice doesn’t want him anymore then whatever. We need kids like McGlothern, Flott, Ward and Cam Lewis. Let the Ricks’ of the world go because all they will do is disappoint. He has been supposedly one foot out the door his entire time at LSU for one reason or the other. Kids like him, Gilbert, etc are not needed for the new regime. We need good kids that want to stick together and fight.

I’m upset about it for sure. I never wanted to lose Corey Raymond. That said, it’s not the end of the world. We’ll be fine. Fk him and Ryan Clark.
