Based on what?

Based on him mostly only losing to No. 4 and No. 6 on this list. He’s probably about to win 11 games for the 5th time in 10 seasons.

Playing for National Championships has to count for something.

National Championship Titles
Saban
Kirby
Dabo

BCS Format Finals/Playoff Semi-Finalist
Day
Harbaugh
Riley
Kelly
Dykes

These have to be in the top 10.

And putting Kirby ahead of Saban is ridiculous.

Fully in agreement. I would add DeBoer to that list and then either Lanning or Klieman to round out the top 10.

1A. Saban
1B. Kirby
3. Dabo (trending way down but he won 2 national championships and played for 4 at friggin Clemson)
4. Harbaugh (best coach without a national championship.)
5. Kelly

After that it becomes difficult.

All I have to say about OP putting Day 3rd is that some are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple.

I would put Dabo ahead of Kirby honestly, based on trips to title game.
Body of work and all that.

If Kirby wins it this year he can jump to #2.

Saban has 7. 7 National Titles. Putting him behind anyone is completely irresponsible.

I guess it depends on your criteria. If we are going total body of work, then it's probably 1. Saban, 2. Dabo, 3. Kirby.

But if we are going momentum and future, it's definitely Kirby.

Top 20 Head Coaches is the criteria. Which I take to mean the top 20 based on records, titles, etc…

Now if we want to have a “Coaches with Momentum” top 20, that would definitely shake it up. But momentum changes year to year, or game to game even.

Kirby is definitely on the rise. But I can’t crown him #1 based on what he might do in the future.

If that's the case, where is Mack Brown on your list?

Good list.

All the downvotes are from Kiffin fanboys.

I’d put Dabo higher due to multiple championships.

I actually thought about him after I posted.
Could add him, I guess. But his title was almost 25 years ago and he hasn’t had success recently as have the others.

By this criteria you have to put Jimbo

Well, Jimbo isn't a coach right now, so he isn't qualified to be on the list.

You have some of the same people claiming Kelly is too high wanting Lanning in the top 10.

I like Lanning, but the dude is in his second year. We have seen so many flash-in-the pan coaches have quick success, but unable to sustain.

I was thinking I had him too high.
