I agree. And it sounds like del Rio will be analyst and DC in waiting.

DC usually goes with backers so he can be with the group portions of practice involving the run game and then also be involved with coverage part of practice too like 7on7. If he was safeties coach he would never be with the front 7 except for team and that could make for a tough situation.

Baker coached Safeties too at Mizzou. You could keep him doing that and let Raymond coach DB’s like Aranda said needed to happen.

I think you are short one position. We had two secondary coaches. I hope they make Diaco and Janeck analyst. I also hope we have a ST coach. Someone who only focuses on ST. We need to work on the punt returners.

Why do teams now need a safeties coach and a corners coach

I think Diaco and Jancek go back to analyst roles.

Seriously, I wouldn't mind one of the defensive coaches being a likely heir apparent, a la Sloan as OC heir apparent. Would be nice to have some continuity when Baker gets a HC job after our natty.

For the question why a safeties and a corners coach…
Safeties are apart of run game and have reads take for instance if TE is blocking or releasing where as corners job is mainly cover. So indo time for practice and development could be better suited split up between coaches. Some just do 1 coach but just have to make sure both positions are getting what they need done.

That’s a weak recruiting staff.

Asking because I honestly don't know..... Is an average position coach age of 52 (leaving out Blake) pretty standard in a college room? Does energy become a concern in coaching and/or relatability a worry in recruiting? I remember Blake and Corey excelling in recruiting. I don't know much about the rest.

I just don’t get the fetish with Corey Raymond. He wasn’t good the last 4 years he was here. Including when Aranda was DC. Florida didn’t keep him long either.
