Its not about liking or disliking, its about the realities of the sport and the world.

You don't rebuild a program with someone like him at this stage.

I think it’s a good hire, but:

He needs to bring back some of the offensive concepts from his Cincy days to attract better QBs in the future. Kelly should have Walker Howard to start, since he’s already shown interest in Kelly with a visit to ND. If he can modernize the offense and develop Howard, then we will keep bringing in dynamic offensive players.

42-14 loss & 38-14 loss is that enough reason. Napier would have been better

Old? He is 60. He can easily give us six strong years of football. You would have probably got equal years from any coach

I like aranda but there is no logical reason to put him and began Kelly in the same category

The people who don’t want him because he’s never coached in the south are the same people who wanted O because he was from here.
My only concern when Saban was hired was recruiting because of geography. Boy was I wrong. Turns out that having to recruit against tOSU and MI when you are the runt is pretty good education. I'll never make that mistake again- and we shouldn't now. Don't assume Kelly can't recruit. I know you didn't mention recruiting specifically, but I can't think of any other correlation to "coaching" and geography that it could be referring to. I'm saying this to the people here that would cite never being in the south as a limit of recruiting potential, not you specifically.

I'll add to your post with something I saw in another thread: Yes, we have a culture problem. I'm not talking about weed or any or disciplinary issue. I'm talking about team concepts, attitudes, and dedication to put in the work. Is Kelly the guy to fix that? Dunno. He seems to have a higher potential for that than several others we've considered (not named Aranda).

- His age
- Cultural misfit
- Unproven track record against SEC level competition (Notre Dame has a losing record against the SEC since he took over, with most of his wins being against…. Well, us.)
- His offenses stall out against elite teams

Is there any team that wanted him if they had a blank check book? This is the most LSU hire ever. We could have saved money if we were going for a low ceiling kind of Coach that we would have to replace in five years anyway.

I hate this hire, not sorry at all.

I didn't think it was possible, but Kelly than coach. I watched all the ND games before my mom (huge ND fan) passed. Kelly with LSUs talent will be scary.

1. He won’t mesh well with culture or the players here in Louisiana.

2. Old

3. He hasn’t won shite

3-8 record vs top ten teams

Probably playing against 75% of players who couldn’t get in to ND. I think he will do well here. He’s got to want that allusive tittle that he knew he couldn’t get at ND.

His recruiting class rankings and incredibly slow grasp to consistent double digit wins have been less than stellar, in fact he’s average at best. I MEAN, LOOK AT THAT SCHEDULE. Especially if you consider the historical program he coached under. His overall W-L record is inflated from past positions and his ND W-L record is against some shite scheduling. He’s the 12th best coach in America. He’s 60 years old. And he’s going to have incredibly difficult time relating to fans and players while recruiting in the state of Louisiana. Look at who he’s recruiting against. We still don’t know who’s coming from the staff, assuming not of his key coordinators come we are definitely fricked.

I don't get this or any reference to "a good fit"

Firstly, we had Les Miles as a coach. Dude was relatable for sure, and likeable, but as far as "fit" goes he was his own planet.

Secondly, what is "good fit"? What exactly is that? Is clothes? Accent? Eating habits? The man obviously sits down with recruits and parents from all over the country and I haven't heard of any of them throwing him out.

Thirdly, even if you can define it- why the hell does it matter? I personally never gave a shite about mannerisms, accents, or any of that shite. Some coaches were teachers, some were screamers, but "fit" was never even a factor.
