I don't get this or any reference to "a good fit"
If you travel enough you will understand it. Watch a football game sometime and look at the fans. Ever notice how different fanbases can look in the stands? College kids are going to feel that difference, they need to relate to the place they are going to spend four years of their life learning and competing. LSU fans don’t act at all like A&M fans for example. Aggies are rigid rule followers and tradition bound, yet like to live in chaos and disorganization. You could call them Type A individuals if you really tried too hard to simplify it. LSU fans by contrast are much more Type B individuals. We play heavily into emotion, don’t always like to follow the rules, and generally have a more laid back vibe when we aren’t melting about the football team (emotion again). Les Miles fit our mindset in a weird way, because he was somewhat unconventional. O was literally one of us, warts included unfortunately. What happens if for example you try to bring an Aggie in to coach our guys who spend their lives around Louisiana minded people? They’ll clash. Not saying that Kelly is an Aggie but I hope that helps illustrate the point…
Fit isn’t the end-all be-all, but it can certainly play a role in how successful a coach is. Kelly could prove me wrong, but I think he will struggle with Louisiana. You’re not going to be able to get these kids to perform by screaming at them or having them roll in the mud.

I think it is a perfect hire. He coaches here for another 5 years, possibly winning a title and then retires. At that time Aranda has grown as a coach and then we hire him to take over a great program that is strong. This also shows the NCAA we are serious about cleaning up the program and will run it clean

- His age
- Cultural misfit
- Unproven track record against SEC level competition (Notre Dame has a losing record against the SEC since he took over, with most of his wins being against…. Well, us.)
- His offenses stall out against elite teams
Is there any team that wanted him if they had a blank check book? This is the most LSU hire ever. We could have saved money if we were going for a low ceiling kind of Coach that we would have to replace in five years anyway.
I hate this hire, not sorry at all.
This is spot on
