1. Do you actually think the LA Times doesn't have sources inside the USC Athletics dept?
2. You're not refuting anything in the LA Times article. There was mutual interest between Haden and Sumlin. We all know that. We all know how it played out that Sumlin never got to the interview phase.
I'm not sure what it is you think you're saying that contradicts the LA Times article.

I tihnk Sumlin's legit. Remember what he did at Houston. IMO he would have been a much better choice than Sarkasian for USC. But once again, I'm a UCLA fan so I'm pleased with the way things turned out.

And it makes 100% sense.
Sark was always Haden's #1 choice - good or bad. Haden has boosters around him who love Sark.
Sark was the heir apparent to Carroll (not Kiffin) before Sark took the HC job at UW before Carroll had left USC.
Sark is a SoCal guy - with USC roots - LA recruiting ties and connections.
The fanbase may hate it...but powerful alumni wanted him.
It's not correct to say Sumlin was their primary target...as Haden made it clear - if Sumlin was USC's #1 target - they would have told him he was and he would have been offered and accepted.
End of story.

I'm a bit surprised USCw once again has decided to appoint a guy with previous school ties (Kiff, Sark, etc) and they interviewed Del Rio - there is no unique set of circumstances @ USCw.

There is no way that's how it happened. They didn't simply beat USC to the punch.
Sumlin is there because he wants to be there...or because he didn't think he was going to get the job...or because he feels that it gives his the best platform for making the jump to the NFL.

I don't know about that. They were in pretty bad shape under Sherman and most thought they would get slaughtered in the SEC. We'll see if he is for real next year without Johnny.

In 2013, I could have started at QB and beaten Arkansas, Rice, SHSU, UTEP, Vanderbilt, and SMU.
Manziel won the Ole Miss game and either Hill or Joeckel could have easily beaten Mississippi State.
You could make the case that Kenny Hill beats Missouri as opposed to a broken Manziel...or that, had Hill come in instead of Joeckel after Manziel separated his shoulder, A&M beats Auburn.

Yep, its not everyday that you're the bridesmaid and still gets paid. Sumlin did good and is in good shape to succeed Kubiak when he's canned.

Guys it seems like you are new to this whole process. Sumlin's agent is Jimmy Sexton. He contacted USC. I have zero doubt of that. I also am fairly certain Sumlin listened. But there is zero chance Charlene would drive a move. Zero. In fact, the driving force behind him staying and adding in the no-NFL deal is she doesn't want to move.
If it helps you sleep at night that you didn't get turned down, whatever. But the story has zero credibility (as does the whole only target thing as it sounds completely farcical but I have no knowledge of that)

Dude can coach offense pretty well; but his history shows that he needs guys like Manziel/Keenum to be as amazing as you make him out to be as a head coach.
Also, what process is he using to get y'all a defense that's worth a damn?
