re: OU lurkers…Why’s there no smoke from OU on a new contract raise/extension for Riley?

Pretty much the same I’ve heard from listening to sports radio that covers OU and reading on the boards. Nobody on the OU side seems to be concerned at all. A friend of mine knows a recruit and current player and said his mom has even been told my Lincoln himself that he’s not leaving. Which again what’s he really supposed to say to them but at the same time Lincoln lying to a recruit would go against what he’s about from everything that’s even been said about him.
That recruit was 2023 QB Malachi Nelson. He told Malachi and his family that he's not leaving.
He told Caleb and his family the same thing last year when the Eagles offered FWIW.

Oh, he's got an offer

Play in the B12 with a Heisman level QB and be favored in every game or go rebuild a program in the SEC West ?
With good Coaching, this current LSU team would beat OU.
Tulane put 35 on em

Yeah I believe that was a key reason why you saw Nelson visit OU this past weekend. As far as what current players have been told my buddy asked the guy he knows on the team and they were just told to focus on winning football games so take that FWIW.

You're hanging your hat on what he told a 2023 QB from California?
If he's committed to OU it's because of Riley. All he'd have to do is say "Hey baw, come with me to LSU and be the next Burrow/Mayfield/Murray."

I think most of us are overthinking this. The speculation is fun. But just like the baseball and women’s basketball coaching search, we likely won’t know anything until the contract is signed.

To be fair we're riding with posts from randos on the internet.
we playing around having fun. he did not put any thought into what he said. and he was serious. zero critical thinking skills. he has always been a terrible poster on the rant.

I was just naming the recruit.
Do I think Lincoln is the type to lie like that to such an important recruit before his weekend visit (with a slew of other important recruits in attendance)? No, but crazier things have happened.

I haven't seen one person give it credence. When the topic is brought up, it's met with laughs.
You guys are completely delusional if y’all don’t at least accept the possibility that a move can be made. And if OU hasn’t come out announcing a pay raise, or some statement showing their commitment to adding more resources to help Riley build a national championship team, there is only one reason for that...
He gone.

I’d be willing to bet both SW and Riley have a good idea what’s happening at this point.
It’s possible it’s already a done deal either way.
I don’t see Riley as the type of person to let this linger, and I don’t see SW waiting too long.

No coach is going to say to a kid in that situation "I won't be here next season" unless it has already been announced.
I'm not sure why people think recruits are going to have any better info than anyone else. Because 18 year olds are so trustworthy?

This. It's not like it's one generational type player in this class

Just posted this in one of the other identical threads:
Lol at the idea that OU has to run out an announce an extension just because a few college jobs opened up.
LR knows he can name his price at OU and it will be paid from now until eternity as long as he’s winning games. What’s happening right now is negotiations on funds for support staff so that OU can have a chance of success in the SEC. If we keep our staff structure as it is now, this upcoming move will be an absolute disaster.

Do you think he's so stupid that he'd tell the truth about something like that to an 18 year old kid?

ETA: I'm not saying that there is a deal, or that he's going to come to LSU, but if he is, he isn't going to tell an 18 year kid.

If the recruit was Malachi Nelson, I disagree.

He will play out this season and get his normal raise like he always does. Nothing to see
I remember you crying and bitching that we were gonna lose to OU in 19 because Clyde got hurt in practice

Hope y'all Keep Riley.
You're not winning a NC anytime soon.

I have no idea what is really going on, but I'm ready for this shite to end, lol. There is a very small minority of our fanbase that wants him to leave. They are idiots and must have not lived through the John Blake years.

Curious. Is your username an AT&T userID? I just recently left after 20 years.
