Other factors in the decision making process - Aranda

Spoke to a friend of mine last night, former pro athlete, Coach/Instructor and is still connected to SE TX area HS coaches. He had some interesting opinions and info on Aranda
Aranda and his staff are recruiting kids in schools that my buddy is friends with coaches, so this is hearsay obviously
1. Aranda and his family love waco, he said he can "go home for lunch everyday" if he wants to, his wife and kids are very happy there
2. Aranda said in Waco he doesn't have to worry too much about his players getting into trouble by "running off to New Orleans" like he did at LSU - I take that as a metaphor, not literally the problem was LSU kids going to New Orleans
3. Aranda feels like Baylor can become the dominant program in whatever the Big 12 becomes after OU and Texas leave, path to playoffs is much easier
4. Aranda also said they dont have to take as many chances on higher rated kids because they can focus on guys that are going to be in Waco for three or four years - player development is a focus
My buddy says he thinks Aranda will stay in Waco for the near term.
This stuff reminds me of the Marcus Freeman to LSU story. Dude wants to come to LSU and his wife talks him out of it to stay in MidWest. So he signs with ND
We sort of forget that these guys are husbands and fathers too and it isnt all Won/Loss and money. Jimbo loves his ranch, Riley is building a huge house that his wife designed, etc

Aranda and his family love waco,
They said the same thing about Baton Rouge. He was actually very adamant how much his family loved it. So, I don't think this is much of a factor.

Exactly. I posted a while back that his kids still come back for stuff. Dunham homecoming is an example. Could mean something, or nothing at all.

there may be some truth to what you were told, Aranda staying at Baylor was always my first thought and my last thought because of what he has going on in the terms of family and them growing into that culture, In between my first and last thought I always and will wish that Dave Aranda comes back to Baton Rouge. No matter what he is a fantastic football mind ! I will be a fan of Dave Aranda always have been

sure but there is a pretty big difference between then and now
CEO wanted to change defenses, Aranda won a NC and got a HC job out of it
I am sure his family did love baton rouge

Waco is real nice till the branch Dravidian’s come and recruit your players to join their cult and end up dying in a fire after the government stakeout.

this is where I am as well
I know some of this is recruiting talk and coach speak. But we also know Aranda is a different sort of cat, he says what he means or he doesn't say anything at all and the takes are pretty spot on with the way we think that he thinks
I am not sharing this in relation to LSU, this is stuff is more indicative of MSM throwing Aranda to USC stuff out there because he and his wife are from SOCAL. If he isnt the LSU HC, I dont see him going anywhere else right now.

Swimmer…is that you? Did coach Pete give you this information?

Kids don't get into trouble in Waco? He may want to revisit the not so distant past re: Baylor football and basketball. More serious trouble than any LSU athlete has gotten into while on campus.

Are we memory-holing the fact that Baylor almost got the death penalty for systematic inaction regarding players’ sexual assault? Like sure man it’s a Jesus town no trouble to be had.

I believe we have a better chance of hiring Aranda vs Riley.
When I found out Riley's wife had designed and in the middle of building their dream home, there is no way his wife is moving to Baton Rouge.

has anything changed since then? do you think aranda is the guy that turns a blind eye to bad stuff going on in his program like briles did?
the metaphor of "running off to New Orleans" is perhaps lost on some of you - Aranda can keep a closer eye on his program in a place like Waco because it is fairly remote and he pays very close attention to details and behavior - the anti-briles if you will

Isn't Dallas like an hour away from Waco? Maybe just a little further than BR to NOLA. If players want to go to the city to cut up then nothing's stopping them. There's also nothing in BR stopping him from "paying close attention to details and behavior" and recruiting guys that fit his mold
If he likes Waco more than BR then it is what it is, but that reasoning makes absolutely no sense
