Then why wasnt he the guy last year instead of Canada?

Simple. He turned it down. Just like I said.

The "search" was a farce.

Two years of OC hiring and only 1 formal interview.

Bravo Alleva and O. I didn’t think this level of incompetence was possible at this high of a level. Bravo.

That was the saddest PR spin attempt Ive seen in a long time for a coaching hire.

They had Ensminger out there crying and saying how he always wanted the job even though a year ago he was adamant that he had desire to ever be the LSU OC.

Everything was so scripted and the BR media fell for it and failed to hit hard back to get real answers about the search.

Orgeron is a master deflector.

But regardless. I hope we can win. I really do.

Bunch you thought d’antoni was a joke hire and he won coach of the year. How about showing a little humility and not thinking you can evaluate coaches after that embarrassing debacle.

Funny, I distinctly remember the vision to get elite coordinators.

Maybe there's some special synergy that happens when you pair a very below average HC like Orgeron with a below average OC like Ensminger.

Some sort of magic happens.

I absolutely believe that after Kiffin didn't pan out, that Ensminger was the guy Orgeron wanted. I believed this last year and I continue to believe this. Orgeron was just too chickenshit to go with his convictions out of fear of the backlash. So instead he hired the best name he could and then when that dude didn't coach exactly like Ensminger would have, he cut him off at the knees.

I believe this is why he waffled on the style of offense and type of QB he wanted. He wanted spread and dual threat ONLY IF IT WAS KIFFIN, once Kiffin was out, he wanted Ensminger, more traditional with a pro-style passer.

pretty sure he was talking about Kiffin specifically when he said we are gonna go after the best offensive coordinator in the nation. Do you have a transcript of the statement?

Tenth Tiger, I like you and your posts, but disagree with you on this one. The condition of O getting the job from Alleva and the BOS was to go out and get the best OC that we could. O didn't have a choice. You know this. Canada was hired and he was a disaster on the field and off. That's what changed from last year to this year.

So because O failed on one of the conditions of his hiring its not a condition of his employment anymore?

That's the reality here.

3.2 million dollars later, here we are.

What a waste of school resources.

Ensminger IS NOT the OC we are looking for. He can try as hard as he can and his IQ and Football IQ won't rise one point.

If he had it, he wouldn't have hid it for the past 20 years. That is the farce.

So now he doesn't have to try to go get the best OC possible? Just promote a guy already on staff and call it a day? Jesus Christ you 0 people are forever moving the goalposts to support this moron

Then why does he have a choice this year?

Ensminger said he did not hesitate this year, contrary to what you said. He's lying, right?

I think you are right. I also believe at first he was talking specifically about Kiffin. However, he kept that narrative going after Kiffin was out of the running.

here are some quotes, though: LINK
quote:

Can you say originally who put (Canada) on your radar?
“I did some research. I was doing some research – who is the best offensive coordinator, who is the guys that were having the most success. That’s how we found him.”

quote:

What’s it been like talking to quarterback recruits without an offensive coordinator for the last month and what’s that going to be like now?
“Here’s my message: ‘I’m going to go out there and find the best (offensive coordinator) for LSU, and I promise you that. And when I do get that guy, I’m going to have him call you, and he’s going to talk to you about what we can do with you and the offense and stuff like that.’ So that’s what we’re planning on doing. I’ve been straight forward with them the whole time. Today’s the day where we’re going to call the recruits and recruit them to come to LSU.”

Here's a clip of Orgeron's opening remarks from Canada's introductory press conference. He talks about how he got the top offensive coordinator in the country in the first 10 seconds. It's funny in retrospect, because he stumbles over his words and it seems like he doesn't even believe what he's saying, he just knows he needs to continue with his best coordinators line, since that's what got him the job in the first place.

Orgeron is not the right guy to lead this program, so of course he thinks Ensminger is the right guy.

The Neanderthal is a dumbass. It's going to be a long offseason of slamming O, mods, but it's well deserved.

Yeah. Ensminger for a rebuild job would be phenomenal. Like Tennessee.

But LSU has the talent to win every year.

You think he'd come out in a presser and say "well I turned it down the first time so O half assed a search and then puppy dog eyed me."

The most scrutinized position in LSU atheltics is now him, and quite frankly, Its a damn stressful job.
