Would he help recruit? He was allegedly lazy about it at Tech, even though it was his alma mater.
His OC resume is also as thin as Frost's. I think he called plays one year at Houston, and one year at A&M.

What is Tom Herman doing these days?

This " the game has passed him by" or "he's out of date" is such a crock of shite. Y'all try to make football way more complicated than it is. As if the concepts of jet sweep motion or route combinations are so deep only a few chosen few can crack the code. Football is actually pretty simple. If it wasn't, the semi-literate jocks playing it would never grasp it.
I call bullshite on this. Frost’s rise as an offensive mind at Oregon and UCF coincided with a major offensive shift throughout college football toward spread concepts and tempo.
It’s not that his skills have a shelf life, at least not at this point in his career. However, what made him stand out as a coach 7-10 years ago is the same thing everyone else is doing now. He’s not unique and doesn’t stand out in any way.
Also, the fact that most of that success came at a G5 program and didn’t translate well at all to a P5 program is concerning. The point is that there are better options out there when you are willing to spend $1-2 mil for a coordinator.

I would take him over Frost, without question. He was elite and won a title as an OC. He wasn’t as successful overall as Frost while at Houston, but he did beat as many or more P5 teams over his last two seasons. He’s proven to be a good recruiter. He also wasn’t the absolute disaster that Frost was as a P5 head coach. Texas was just in a better place and has higher standards than Nebraska at this point.
I don’t think LSU will end up considering either, but Herman is definitely the better of the two.

You think BK is going to hire a national championship winning coach to be his OC?
Posted on 12/24/23 at 10:38 am to CapperVin
No. Hasn’t been an active OC in years.

He was struggling with alcoholism. Hopefully he sobered up.

IMO Warren Ruggiero would be a good hire and fit for the Tigers new offense and recruiting. He and Sloan would kill it with QB’s of the future. His offense is actually very similar to what we were running in 2019. It also happens to be very easy to pick up for players and put’s defenses in a bind. Not to mention him having elite QBs, WRs, TEs and OL to work with. The problem would be keeping him if he had great success. At that point though, Sloan should be ready to move up into his spot after 3 years. I think we’d win a championship or at least play for one or more while he was here. Jmho

Adding this guy, a new bad arse DC and Bo Davis to the program would be huge imo.

Nebraska is a dead end, will never be a relevant program ever again, they May catch a hidden recruit game changer and have lightning in a bottle, but the BIG RED days are over
They were like a college version of John Curtis, the average players were 5th year seniors and had a walk/on program that is impossible these days. Grown men 2-3 years older tban other colleges, it was a factory.
