This is just pure speculation trying to come up with an explanation for all of the crazy things that are happening with Tolbert and BG..

Tolbert gets the job after the NFL season as reported by many sites and Miles didn't want this news to get out. He knew that Tolbert couldn't contribute to the recruiting efforts until after the season which might be too late. He had plans to hire BG as the wide receivers coach/ passing game coordinator so he would have a receivers coach for the bowl game and a recruiter for this big class. Really the deal with BG is that after Crowton is fired after the bowl game BG is "promoted" to OC and Tolbert joins the staff as a wide receivers coach.

This speculation is founded under two pretty obvious fact. First, no team wants to install a totally new offense in the three weeks before the bowl game. BG would install his "Florida" spread offense if he were named OC before the bowl game. So they give BG a wink wink deal as wide receivers coach for the bowl game but OC next year. Second, Miles knows he needs a recruiter in this class as he sees Lache slipping away and Davis and Hunter wavering. So he gets BG to come to LSU as WR coach until Tolbert can come.

Explanations this theory offers..
It shows why BG was hired so quickly after Tolbert "backed out". The talks were already in place for this to happen..
It shows why BG made the "lateral" move from Florida to LSU

IMO This would put together one of the best offensive staffs in college football and would put the ball into our playmakers hands with a wide open offense that could score in bunches. This is very unlikely and possibly me just hoping/dreaming but with everything that has happened these past couple days.. why not?

Too much thinking involved for Miles to be involved in this.

yeah it's not like Miles managed to convince a major school program to drop a few million on him on a yearly basis.

Very interesting take - I see no logical inconsistency - makes sense.

He's one sly devil but he sure can't figure out how to get a play in timely after 5 full years of delay of games and/or wasted timeouts and he sure can't manage a clock as exhibited by games at home against Auburn and on the road against Ole Miss.

Did Tolbert really fall through, or is he just waiting until after the season to make a move? Could it be a smokescreen? None of this is officially confirmed yet, so it is all conjecture to some degree.

which makes this scenario as likely as any.

It's obvious Crowton's weakness is management skills and developing players. I hope your speculation is spot on. I can't fault Miles for responding quickly to problems we've had the past 2 seasons except for the stupid Co DC scheme.

We'l know soon because if this would be the case, BG will be letting recruits in on the plans and it will leak.

I like the idea and want to know how many beers it took to conjure, but think in the end, it is too elaborate for Miles and we find out Tolbert fell through and Crowton stays for another agonizing year

This is more likely, depending on what Belowpar says now.

The only problem with your premise is who is then going to be coaching the QB's?

I'm thinking its the same thing only Tolbert will be the OC since he's the one with NFL experience.
