As opposed to LSU having to pay $9.5 million a year to steal a coach from an independent school with an enrollment of only 8,600 kids...

You pay what you have to in order to try to get/keep good football coaches, which is what Ole Miss and Auburn are trying to do.

I wouldn’t complain if that meant adding Hugh Freeze.

It does not bode well how public this is. That almost never plays out in favor of the poaching team, speaking from experience.

How stupid are all the schools that let Lane sit there available at FAU for years.

Clearly, Ole Miss is not worried about their coach getting poached.

In this case it would seem auburn would not want this leaked unless they just aren’t very bright.

I guess there are two ways to look at it:

- If you think you've landed him, obviously it sucks because it puts a lot of pressure on him for the next week in Oxford.

-If it's still up in the air, it may force the issue, and Auburn probably needs to know what they're dealing with sooner rather than later. We're on a short clock.
