If LSU gave me an excuse to leave Fayettenam I would take it.

He’s at Arkansas not really the cream of the crop talent wise and In those last 4 games two of them were against two of the best offenses in the country. I think LSU could do better but if they go with Odom it’s a solid hire and it’s a guy that would probably stick around for a few years. He isn’t getting another head coaching job anytime soon.

He’s a really good defensive coach who gets the most out of his players. He turned Memphis’ defense around in one year and it promptly went to shite as soon as he left to head to Mizzou.

Arkansas to LSU is in no way a lateral move.

Lol there may be other reasons he would leave but quality of place to live is not one of them. It would likely take a large sum of money for him to leave Pittman.

We did trail off on defense a bit at the end of last year but it sounds like we could have 9/11 starters back next year so if we keep improving I could see him getting another shot at a head coaching job at a G5 school eventually.

I think odom is a good defensive coach but lsu can do a little better.

These need to be homerun hires.

I think they either have freeman or are waiting for him to tell them no before they make another move.

This game can't come soon enough

I didn't watch too many Arkansas games this year but I believe it was against Ole Miss where they had like 6 INTs? The commentators said Arkansas was running a lot of zone with eyes on the QB and making plays. Obviously that can work but that seems like a radical departure from Corey Raymond's man scheme for his corners. Not sure how that would fit...

Seriously doubt Coach O can attract better, Odom is elite.

And he’s not leaving Pittman to be Coach O’s DC.

That’s not saying much LSU had 5 and another QB fumble. If Kiffin was a baseball coach he would definitely have a pitcher with a stat line like Nuke Laloosh 18 walks but also 18 strikeouts.

Freeman
Odom
Parker
Leonard

Would all be solid hires.

Odom and Pittman are buddies, why would he come here in a lateral move while he is still getting paid by Mizzou ?

This guy gave you the answer over a page ago and you guys are still debating it. He and Pittman are good friends and Arkansas is a program on the rise with reasonable expectations. LSU is a giant shite show with sanctions looming, players quitting and retarded expectations.

He has almost his entire two deep returning next year and doesn't have to play the 10 best SEC teams like this year. He could literally do worse than this year and still look better for potential HC jobs which is the kind of money that will probably get his attention instead of slightly more than his Mizzou buyout like LSU would be offering.

They won 3 fricking games in a year where the SEC as whole was horrible. Nobody outside of the guys on 103.7 expect Arkansas to do shite next year

Exactly. We could go 7-5 (3-5) and he would get offers for 4-5 mil a year to go be a HC somewhere. He goes to LSU and loses 2 games and he will be on the "hot seat".

Lie to yourselves all you want. You will overpay for an average DC again just like you did last year. It will not be Odom. He already turned you down once. Have some pride and move on.

No matter what craziness surrounds the program, LSU was, is, and will always be the better program and the more desirable job. Odom may have other reasons that keep him in Fayetteville, but it won’t be because Arkansas is a superior position.

Tell yourself whatever you want to sugar coat it, but our worst team in 25 years just beat your “program on the rise” on the road when things actually looked like they were falling apart. They didn’t and they aren’t going to.

I think Odom stays at Arky and gets a hefty raise. Fact is a ton of guys are not going to come to LSU with O on a short leash and the instability with some of the issues surround the LSU athletics department.

I known LSU finished the season well with the two wins and getting to 0.500, but if anything that should just raise the expectations for next season with it being done with the young guys. We are overhauling both sides of the ball too, which means there will likely be growing pains again next season.
