I hope the Coogs fire Dana and try and get Mullen. Not sure if he would go there but I think he would kill it in the big 12.

I don't think he's built for the NIL era.

He hates recruiting and now he's got to re-recruit his players to stay and not portal out every year. I think he's not returning to coaching for a while until maybe his kids get older.

Mullen's son is rumored to be a pretty strong golfer.

I can't imagine why on earth he would drag his family away from Lake Oconee to the snow, sleet, ice, and mud seasons of Syracuse.

And I say this as someone who thinks upstate NY is beautiful.

Interesting. If that is the case then they should pass. The coach they have already doesn’t recruit.

Mullen couldn't recruit at Florida.

There's no way he'd be able to recruit at Cuse.

He was born in Drexel Hill PA and grew up in New Hampshire.
Played college ball in PA. He's very familiar with the area and could do some good there. There's a ton of powerhouse high school teams in North jersey, Central PA and upstate New York that have been going to Notre Dame, BC and Rutgers for few years. Dick McPherson and Paul Pasqualoni owned those areas at Syracuse. Might be good to get a guy that knows the lay of the land.

I’m told Lane is begging for the job but Syracuse just doesn’t see him as a good fit

Mullen was friends with Paul Pasqualone (sp?), former Syracuse coach. He had Paul on staff at UF as some weird mentor / advisor position. It was just a ploy to waste more money. I can see the connection to Syracuse but Mullen pretty much destroyed his reputation while at UF - lazy, got UF on probation, got a show cause order, does not recruit, when he does recruit his personality pushes people away, awful at staff management, made it known years ago he was interested in the NFL so he could get away from NIL and all the new stuff in CFB.

During his last season there was a podcast with this guy that had a lot of connections in the SEC. He seemed pretty legit. He said that when he talked to his connections, Mullen had become a joke to many people.

He's been gone from UF for two years now. After being a head coach for over 10 years, winning multiple NC's as an OC - no one has been calling him. There's a reason for that.

Also, he, his agent, and Stricklin committed fraud with his last contract, in order to get him out of Gainesville with a buyout. Scott Stricklin should be in jail, and certainly should have been fired. He defrauded UF out of millions.

I don't think it will be Mullen. He wouldn't be my choice. I think it will be Bob Chesney. I like Lewis, Cignetti, Candle. There's been speculation elsewhere that Bill O'Brien is a candidate.

He’s a northerner, through and through. His best friends are still his NH group.

First I have heard of this. What was that about?

If his ego would let him, he should take an OC job with an understanding from the HC that being an elite recruiter isn't necessary.
