On a similar note, ULL should get ahead of this and move to student fees. $250 a semester would cover it. It would pass with a good marketing campaign.
Then they could legitimately claim no taxpayer dollars, and put pressure on the others. La Tech would need nearly $500 a semester to generate a similar sum.

I'll give you 2 reasons: the University of Texas & Oklahoma. They would never allow it.

The funds moved are auxiliary funds. Mainly from parking and transit, they will continue to increase with the more parking garages built on campus.
I 100% agree with a student fee for athletics. $250 per semester would put us on par with the majority of all the AAC/MWC schools. Which is our desired peer group. Regardless of what some crazies say.

Really ???
Why compare??
I give props to UL...where all these schools settle for a coach or go the cheap route UL steps up. They are working to be bigger and better...They went out and made a great hire here...This guy has trained under Saban and Dabo...Hell, I see why they hired him...UL knows LSU is the Power 5 guy in the state...they just want to be the next guy over Tulane,La Tech and ULM and throw Southern Miss in there because that's damn near Louisiana... I think Napier will win there....Good luck to him...

It’s absurd to pay ANY G5 HC that kind of money, especially the worst conference in CFB....UL-L didn’t learn their lesson with Smedium. What do they have to show for overpaying HUD?!?!...cheating scandal, vacated wins, worse recruiting class than freaking ULM, stuck in boubon bowl, thug players? Lafayette has been a coaching graveyard up to this point.

Yeah, congrats on the epic Spring Sport domination!
We all know that @Lafayette turned down Sumlin...but what happened to Brent Pry and Matt Canada?!? I thought they were begging to live in Laffy?

Damn laffy really goes after a certain look. Throw this ole baw in a f250 with a pair of white Oakley's and you wouldn't know the difference between him or any other cleetus heading out to the rigs tee.

You have one sport that you dominate us in.........ONE. That's it. Nothing else. So have fun hanging your head on that.

This is coming from someone who lives in Opelousas. I'm surprised that you actually have electricity to post on this message board. That's impressive in itself.

How’d you mix up Lafayette with Baton Rouge?

So you're saying because one coach didn't work out we should just go cheap on our coaches and that will somehow make our situation better? Do you actually read what you type?
Paying more will attract better talent which increases our chances of improving the program and eventually getting out of the Sun Belt. I can't believe I have to explain this to you.
As far as the coaching graveyard comment, I can't deny that it has been one so far. But with the resources at the school and the fan support down here that comes with a little success, a coach can easily do well here. We've only just recently started putting an emphasis on athletics.

quote:No, they are not. Those funds come out of the "educational and general funds" budget just like the legend for the graph shows. The nola.com article which included the graph was pointing out how much taxpayers are subsidizing the athletic departments at the schools listed on the graphic.
Those funds are from auxiliary fees which are self generated.
quote:You're such an internet tough guy. Looks like the truth about your leech athletic department struck a nerve.
you dipshit.

The one that matters...
It must pain the cajuns that the longest play from scrimmage at cajun field is held by a Tech rb...and it can never be broken, only tied.

Pretty sure most Cajun fans are not aware of this stat or care.
This thread has gone to shite. The Coaching Changes board is not the place for your petty debate. I am genuinely interested on the coaching info and for some weird reason some of my fellow LSU fans feel reason to pick a fight with a Sun Belt school. I’ve never understood the anger. It seems pretty lame to be honest.
I went to LSU, but I’m all for our other state schools to succeed. For LSU fans to give a shite what UL or ULL callls itself is weird. I don’t see why it matters. If you really believe they are irrelevant, why are you here?

As posted on ESPN 1420's Scott Prather's Twitter (contract details). Trigger warning for name debaters.

Introductory speech at ULL today. Hope his team performs better than his opening press conference. Talk about a snooze fest!

No word yet.
ETA: CBN said he'll sit down with all current staff soon (before Christmas), and I guess make a determination of retaining or letting go of some guys.
