I'm happy that Dr. Maggard interviewed and hired a football coach and not a professional TED Talk speaker. The kind of AD that can see through the binder, if you will.

Pretty sure most Cajun fans are not aware of this stat or care.

This thread has gone to shite. The Coaching Changes board is not the place for your petty debate. I am genuinely interested on the coaching info and for some weird reason some of my fellow LSU fans feel reason to pick a fight with a Sun Belt school. I’ve never understood the anger. It seems pretty lame to be honest.

I went to LSU, but I’m all for our other state schools to succeed. For LSU fans to give a shite what UL or ULL callls itself is weird. I don’t see why it matters. If you really believe they are irrelevant, why are you here?

Music to my ears. Thank you

Napier is the complete opposite of Hud so far. Real even keeled, cerebral guy.

He's staying in Lafayette for the week, flying back to AZ for the weekend, and then coming back after. That seems reasonable to me.

He said today that we should start to hear names of some assistants within a couple of days.

Beside Sale, any ideas who they will be?

Rumored hires are Tony Hull and Karl Dunbar. No actual proof of this two, just names being thrown around that have ties to Louisiana and Napier.

Napier said yesterday that he would be calling plays.... Based on what Sale is making at ASU, he would probably need to be paid as an OC To make the numbers work.

I saw that Hull is making $400k As rb coach at KU. He would probably have to be OC at his alma mater to make that switch so I don't see Hull and Sale both fitting financially.

Lol! You Cajuns praised the hire of Smedium for the opposite reasons.
“Cerebral”....I love it! I see that y’all were impressed w/his use of “Synergy” too!! You Cajuns are a fracking trip. Please don’t ever change.

That's pretty absurd. He got a raise based on a bunch of kids committing to Kansas, of which I think only one is still committed, but is both a flip risk and a grade risk.

I think like 7 kids from Louisiana committed to Kansas one weekend. Hull gets a raise. 3 of them decommit almost immediately, the rest over time. If any of them actually do sign with Kansas, it's unlikely that Hull is even there to see them play a game.

Hud came to a program that hadn't been to a bowl game in 40 years. He also came to a program that had one winning season in 15 years. The fanbase needed the energy boost. But that "juice" dwindled to three straight losing seasons and a probationary period. We now have a coach that is more X's and O's than "rah rah."

No shite that is alot for a RB coach. This article says he went from $150k in 2016 to $400k in 2017. His NOLA connections are paying off for him financially at least.

LINK

He would be great for recruiting , but there is no way we could pay him that or more

You could make him an assistant head coach -the common way non-coordinators make coordinator money. But you'd have to pay more than $400K and while $2 million is a nice budget for assistants, $400 and $500K salaries eat that up quickly.
Getting those players to commit to Kansas, even if only temporarily, shows the man can recruit.
