He would really check all the boxes for what I think Woodward would go for. He would potentially be difficult to pry from Oregon because they do have money, however, they are ultimately a tier 2 program in an inferior conference. Really one of the few suitable coaches that arn't likely in contention for a playoff spot.

I doubt it’s him, but it could be. I wouldn’t be over the moon, but it’s a good hire. His name has basically disappeared from the rumor mill the last month. Would make sense for his name to go unmentioned while the media scrambled over the other names.

Peterson or Whittingham before Christobal is my guess at this point.

So does everyone that frequents this board need to start a thread with who they think it is or will be?

He's certainly improved the talent level at Oregon. He's never been a coordinator (neither had Orgeron) and from what I heard that's a requirement for Woodward.

One would assume that hire would have already been announced. No real shot at CFP.

I don't believe Cristobal. Miami is moving things around for Mario. What do I mean? There are major Miami boosters who are tied to Cristobal's family and Miami is said to be hiring an AD that Mario likes because Mario didn't like the previous AD.

Joe Moorhead looks to be leaving Oregon for the Akron job. LINK

I think Cristobal is leaving Oregon but he's going to Miami. Miami is another one that has been really quiet. Napier's job just got really tough if he has to recruit against Mario.

Rhule

that would be great but why not Sean Payton or Belichick instead? Why Rhule over them?

Miami can't come close to affording Cristobal. He'd be about as good of a hire as you could hope for and will increase the talent level at LSU at minimum

Hard pass. Cristobal is the Cuban version of Orgeron. Line coach, great recruiter, never a coordinator/lack of expertise. 27-47 HC record at f'ing FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL. 35-12 at Oregon in the most abysmal conference in the country.

There has been consistent reports Rhule may want to come back to NCAA. That's why. Whoever makes that hire if it happened has a potential coach for life who will never jump to NFL again.

Miami folks claim to have the money for Mario and the staff of his choosing. Time will tell.
