That was the rumor about a month ago. It was squashed quickly

I doubt Muschamp will take the job, but UH is looking to make a big time (for them anyway) hiring. They have sunk quite of bit of money into the athletic department and need some momentum to get students into the stands/results on the field.

Might actually be a pretty good scenario as a stepping stone for Muschamp. Still, I would be shocked if he accepted.

What if they get the Big 12 invite?

Could be something to consider.

Bama fans are so funny when they just spread information that has been debunked (like auburn going too fast, no one would want their DC job). I guess it's because then you don't have to think about facts and stuff.

The JJ-WM dispute was debunked within days of Ellis being fired

That would not be a good hire for Coog High IMO. Unless he decides to scrap ball control.

Could be the perfect opportunity for him to learn and become a true HC. So, he leaves the offense to someone who can run it and works to prove he can do the HC stuff better. Then he's lined up to get another top tier gig.

IF he wants to be a DC then he should take one of the open SEC jobs. Seems to me that if he really thinks he is a great DC then take the AU job and get a ring

Just can't see Houston coming anywhere near in money if competing against any SEC team looking to hire a quality DC.

i think it's lose/lose for the coogs. He does great and rehabilitates his image and he's out the door in 2-3 years. Or hes a failure (again) and sets the program back years trying to change their offensive philosophies. Either way doesn't seem too appealing for UofH.

they could easily hit 1 million, but it would probably take 1.2-1.5. That's very competitive unless AU is pushing 1.4 or 1.5

Levine made more than a million and that was on the low side. How many millions do you think Muschamp will get for an SEC DC gig?

Sumlin was earning "between 1 million and 1.2" the year he left for A&M. John Chavis, who is in the top five nationally in terms of salary, made 1.3 million in 2014.

Also, the Sumlin salary was before the new stadium was up, running, and increasing athletic dept revenue amounts (via naming rights, etc.).

I'm sure they'd have no problem offering Boom more than they paid Sumlin.
