They gave Saban money to a guy that barely over .500 for his career lolol......wow Lincoln should get 20 a year then

I could see 10-2 as an absolute ceiling for MSU. They could duplicate that record several times under Tucker, but MSU going all in at $9.5 mil for 10-2 is a waste of money. His agent worked the hell out of the reported number LSU was looking to pay and their perceived interest in Tucker.

Yep that was a job well done

I don’t think that helps us get Riley at 12 mil.
If Tucker is getting nearly 10 mil, why would OU not give Riley 12mil. The writing is on the wall…. the market has dramatically changed.

Depends on the buyout. 9.5 mill a year is all fine and good but if Sparty can get out of it pretty easily it’s not that big a deal. The contract Franklin got drops the buyout to basically nothing after 2-3 season.
What we’re offing Riley is 100% guaranteed, big difference

If I recall correctly, one of the higher ups at Sparty said that they “couldn’t allow another Saban situation.” I think this was done out of sheer panic

It does if the ink has been dry for a while now. At least in terms of the framework on a contract like that. In other words, if SW really bagged LR at 12 a year then in essence he set the market. So schools with "hot" coaches either come up to the market or risk losing their coaches to places like Florida, USC, etc.
All these "makes no sense" extensions really make me think SW flopped his dick on the table and landed Riley.

Get beat 59-7. Get 9.5 Million!
MSU has a strong case of the Libby Woke Meds.
Glad he's not coming here.
No Tucker and no Franklin. CRTate crying in his Chocolate Cherrios.

Boosters are paying for the entire contract.
School isn't on the hook at all...worked out great for both parties.

No it's not. They could have gotten 10 coaches just as good as him for half that.
They got suckered by his agent telling them LSU was wanting him for 10+ million.
