I know he is well thought of as an OC but you would think Michigan would shoot higher than a 60 year old that’s only been a HC for 3 years at a sun belt school.

60 year old man whose only head coaching experience was 2 years at Southern Miss.

Michigan isn’t serious about football if they hire him

The OC who has Derrick Henry, went up by 11 this past Sunday with 10+ minutes left in the 4th quarter in a must win game, and decides Henry won’t see the field the rest of the game? And they lose?

Seems like a great hire!

Everyone thought LSU had a severely tarnished brand less than 2 months ago. THIS is what a tarnished brand looks like. The Michigan job is not nearly as attractive right now as it used to be. Couple that with the timing of all this and their options aren’t great.

They aren’t going to like him. He’s a hard arse, no nonsense coach. He doesn’t want to recruit, just coach football. He’s not going to pay nice with boosters and admin either. But the man is a damn good coach.

I get what you’re saying, but wasn’t he also the head coach at UNC?

Not only this, which is all true, but it reinforces that LSU approached it the only way possible - hyperaggressively.

Monken was the brains behind UGAs 2 natties. They have fallen off bad since he left.

Yeah, it’s got nothing to do with losing so much talent to the NFL, the portal, and not being able to stack talent because of the NIL.

Monken is an elite coach who helped bring UGA championships. He’s best served being the OC where he doesn’t have to do the politics and recruiting.

Dude just flushed the ravens season benching a white hot Henry in a drive that would’ve ended the game.
