I'm not buying this. Why go that high for Jimbo? There is no way this was happening in late November.
I contend that Woodward had talks with him but I don't buy the assertion that in late Nov he was willing to dump that kind of money on Jimbo. Does that mean LSU beating A&M was the deciding factor and then he had to rush and get Brian Kelly?
Not buying it. Woodward would not breath a word of this to anybody if this had any truth. He wouldn't want this to get out there.

McMurphy also wrote an article on the coaching search earlier where he claimed “sources” told him that Mel Tucker remained a primary target for the LSU coaching job. Because this whole process revealed how so many people claiming to have scoop had it wrong, unless someone cites exactly where the information came from, i will consider information from my FedEx guy to be just as legit.

This is probably A&M putting this info out there during recruiting. Trying to validate they have the better coach and lsu didn’t want their coach.
