This is getting tired. No one I s saying our coach needs to wear shrimp boots, but it helps having exposure to the south for recruiting purposes. Matt Campbell will be a fish out of water and I call BS on him even being a candidate.

We’ll see. I look forward to your melt when he’s hired.

people are ragging Napier and dude has lost like 5 games at a "lesser" school.

Napier is coaching a lesser team in a lesser conference.

Campbell is coaching a lesser team in a P5 conference.

Why is this so hard to understand?

That being said, I would be fine with Napier.

I’ve said from the beginning that there are a ton of coaches who I feel like could have great success here.

Riley
Jimbo
Franklin
Kiffin
Aranda
Tucker
Fickell
Napier
Campbell

In no particular order are all better coaches than what we’ve had since Saban left.

The two most consequential coaching hires at LSU in the last 40 years were Nick Saban and Bill Arnsparger.

Neither one of which had any connections for recruiting. Both were "fish out of water."

Probably third would be Les Miles. Who had no particular connections for recruiting in Louisiana and who signed all of 15 players his first class here.

These are stupid arguments, and they're generally made by people who don't know anything about football other than the games they watch on the SEC Network.

Has LSU EVER hired a coach who won a Coach of the Year award for football?

I can't think of one. I don't think Miles ever won that. Maybe Saban did. None of the others we've had through here did.

Miles won it in 2011 and Ed won it last year. Nick, amazingly, did not win it. This is the National COY award that I am talking about...

At LSU.

I'm asking if we've ever hired a coach who'd won it somewhere else before coming here. I don't think any of them have.

This guy has done it four different times in two different conferences, and he's all of 41 years old.

Then that's the only time in modern history.

This guy is apparently four times as good as Miles.

The Rant: Jimbo sucks, but Campbell is great.

Why? Campbell hasn’t won even a lousy Big 12 Championship. He had his whole team back this year and was preseason top 10…what the hell have they done this year? Lost to ULL last year too.

I’ve never understood why everyone is on his jock. Has not accomplished one iota of significance in Ames

Might want to look at the resumes of those coaches before putting this out: every one of those coaches had spent time as either position coaches or coordinators at bigger schools or the NFL (Saban). The only that hasn’t is Brian Kelly. That is the experience I want, HC at a smaller school fine, but earn some stripes in higher competition.
