He’ll bring in some strong coordinators, coach for 3-4 years and then call it quits. He won’t win a ton of games but he’ll stabilize the program and hand the keys off to one of the coaches under him. I like the move

his last 4 years at Texas were horrendous. This is a terrible hire

It's a win for all fans, since it will get him off TV for awhile. Hopefully he takes Chiznix with him.

67 year old CEO type coach who likes to recruit early and relies on his coordinators for his Xs and Os.

I am just not sure how well his approach translates to the modern day game that has moved away from his strengths. Maybe this is just unc seeing Herm Edwards do alright and them figuring what the hell he should be somewhat cheap

Do people still think this is how it works?

Maybe horrendous for Texas, but 8-win seasons would likely be welcomed at UNC right now.

If winning 8-9 games is horrendous to you .... then you might be an Alabama fan lmao

We'll see but the feeling is they could have done better.

Unlike Kansas, who doesn't have a lot of options or resources, UNC is well positioned for success and reportedly a ton of young candidates were very interested.

Hope not. I think Gene has a good thing going on TV.

Whatever it takes to get him from being an analyst on Saturday mornings. Good luck Mack

Chiz rumored to be the DC.
Either Kingsbury or Satterfield the likely OC.

If this is the case, I’m optimistic he’ll be a successful CEO coach. 8 wins won’t get you fired at UNC.

Cool I like Mack. Hes old but I think he could still win some games in a low pressure situation.

that would be some FCS type of job, not a P5 team

everyone saying he could win 8 games, you have to win 8 games to win 8 games. his ceiling might be 5 or 6 at this point.
