LSU will be hiring a firm to do a national coaching search

I'm hearing that Alleva wants Orgeron to earn the job so he can name him the head coach. Big boosters got wind of this and have made it known that they want a proven head coach. I'm told LSU will soon be hiring a search firm to do a national coaching search.

IF a firm is hired, that will say a lot bout JA's lack of power, as he made it clear immediately after firing CLM that he would be responsible for picking the next HC. This won't be kept a secret, it will come out if true. At this point I trust the "big boosters" at LSU as much as I trust the GOPe. Not at all.

I don't like the sound of this. If we hire a search then it starts to look every but the shite show we had last November. What A list coach would walk into that?

Best news I've heard since the job opened up if true.
When you're making a decision as important as this why wouldn't you hire some fresh, disinterested eyes to evaluate the coaching pool? Doesn't mean you have to take their word as gospel but it's the prudent thing to do as part of due diligence.

I am in the boat... that being said, its not Fleck or nothing for me. I still really like Herman a lot, i like Jimbo, i think if Chip Kelly is a legit option he has to be your number 1. I just really like Fleck and i think he is going to be a superstar. i dont think we will hire him, but i would love the hire if it did happen, and there are damn sure way too many good options for this job to go to Coach O, no matter how he does in these few games.

UGH South Carolina, Missouri, Miami, Georgia, UCF, Rutgers, and Iowa State all used search firms for their current HC position last season.
I don't trust firms to get the job done. Hell they were going to hire Rich Rod for Bama.

Isnt the main points of hiring a search firm for a) vetting purposes and b) to make contact above just a general inquiry to an agent?

Yeah I think Skip mentioned in his interview with Ott and Hanny that they used a search firm to assist when they were hiring Les. I don't think this is out of the ordinary and doesn't make Joe doesn't have the final say.
