You could see that shite in real time. He was maneuvering for the job before Miles was in real jeopardy. And managed to game the local media into lobbying for him in return for access. He even stuck the time of his appointment as interim, starting in the soft part of the schedule that would have made Miles hard to fire
We lucked into the right combination of players and coaches to overcome his leadership. But the choices from him were reactive and never forward thinking. He was not above threatening random fans with his fishing camp
If I were in the media I would love him as an interview though. You could write more books about his time in Miami, Tennessee, Southern California, Ole Miss, and LSU.
I got that he and Lane are friends and respect his ability as a recruiter but I can't see that the baggage is worth the benefits.

This was said back when it happened that O was orchestrating a coup to push miles out and take over.
