Sending his family on a damn plane to Gainesville and Br was as public and calculated as possible from Kiffin

The quotes he is posting on X are all calculated as well

The guy stopped drinking but he is still an attention seeking troll

Yes it is. The coaches are given privileges denied to the players regarding switching. This has always been the case. Here, everyone knows that Lane is being actively recruited. This is illegal for players to do at this time. Am I incorrect?

Why the hell did his family need to go to either?

His ex wife went to UF and entire family is there. There is nothing she needs to see

BR- her daughter dates someone there, her son has been on recruiting trips here, Kane has been multiple times. There is nothing thru needed to see in a 3 hour trip right now

A three hour trip will end you up on "an uncharted desert isle"

I don’t think you realize it, but you just proved my point. Coaches leaving is not the same as players leaving. Whether you or I agree with how it works is irrelevant.

The new landscape of CFB has only made it worse. Teams with coaching vacancies HAVE to try to fill the spot as soon as possible in order to not fall behind in the portal game. The coaches being pursued have no control over this timeline. You can’t fault the coaches for entertaining once in a lifetime opportunities that may or may not be there in a week. On the flip side of that, if a player tries to leave mid season, that is solely on them. Like you said, there are rules against recruiting players during the season.

So one scenario is a coach seizing an opportunity that he has no control over, while the other is a player just trying to leave on his own.

Where we may agree here is that I think both situations put the team being left behind in a tough situation and may paint the coach/ player leaving in an unfavorable light.

Hell yeah OM fans are irate. Remember when Saban went to Alabama? We were pissed but at least he failed in Miami first. Jumping to another SEC team is though. He will be HATED for life in Mississippi.

Some of yall don't understand the timing is NOT up to the coaches. Teams like OM and LSU will both put the current/potential coach in a position where the decision needs to be made asap or they will move on. Meaning, Im more than positive Lane would want to coach his team and wait until the playofff is over to engage in any of this. Truth is, he can't. Teams won't wait for him or anyone else to do that bc of recruiting.

Lane or any other coach will be painted as a bad guy if he ends up taking another position. And people will forget he has been at OM for 6 years, built them up to a household name and is just exploring other options to elevate he and his family. Whether that is at OM or anywhere else, he's doing exactly what any human would do if they got the opportunity to level up!

It’s “illegal”, but it happens.

UofH had Zeon Criss bought away from us by Week 10 of the 2023 season. Texas Tech bought Terrance Carter before our conference championship game matchup vs Marshall. Hence why he went halfass and played only about half the game.

This does not make your point. The fact that players cannot be approached apart from specific times is different from coaches and speaks to the hyperbole of a player changing teams anytime. That is, of course, absurd. Why should coaches under contract be permitted to do so. Do you not see this?

So why is that not broadcast in the players' cases (rhetorical query)? If the point is loyalty or at least decorum, it should be the same for both inasmuch as both are part of the same program. No?

He has the best team he’s had ever. They’re about to enter the playoffs! He could win a natty!

And he leaves before finishing the job!?

Doesn’t sound like a stable guy to me

Professional way to do it would be to quickly make up your mind privately and then when it’s time to move just rip the bandaid off. Not drag it out on Twitter and play a will they won’t they game for a week.

How do you know his ex-wife didn't ask to go on a trip and get alittle attention? It could be a ploy to get more money out of OM? It could be a ploy to make both teams wait and possibly lose out on their 2nd and 3rd choices to hurt them? You don't know. The timing is a problem with college football. You lose out on recruits and transfers if he waits until after the playoffs. That hurts his future team. And you can't push back dates because kids need to be in school at the start of the Spring Semester. It is not a system with great scheduling or even wiggle room. And if Ole Miss refuses to let him coach the playoffs because he chose to take a better job, is that on him?
